Born in Lajatico, Italy, Bocelli got his big break when his demo tape was heard by the famed tenor Luciano Pavarotti. Since then, Bocelli has created an illustrious career, with even Celine Dione praising:

“If God could sing, he would sound a lot like Andrea Bocelli.”

In 1992, Bocelli married Enrica Cenzatti after having met the 17-year-old at a piano bar where she reportedly fell in love with his voice. The pair went on to have two sons, Amos and Matteo, before divorcing in 2002. According to reports, Bocelli met his second wife Veronica Berti during that very year.

Berti, also from Italy, was appointed the CEO of Almud, Bocelli’s currency management office in 2005. She participated in promoting and inaugurating the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, amongst other tasks. In 2012, Berti gave birth to Virginia, her first child and Bocelli’s first daughter. Despite being busy with a newborn, they still made the time for the breathtaking performance below.

In the video, a man describes how the duet came to be. While recording the song, producers had been looking for someone to sing the female part. Bocelli told them that Berti could sing, and the rest is pretty much history. In an intimate, outdoor, dinner setting, the couple come together, ultimately giving a performance the audience would never forget

“Does it get any more romantic than two people in love singing to each other?” the man asks.

With that, the band begins to play.

Sitting at a table on the grass, Bocelli and Berti proceed to sing ‘Qualche Stupido’.

Written by Giorgio Calabrese and adopted from ‘Something Stupid’ by C. Carson Park, ‘Qualche Stupido’ is a well-known, Italian love song. Much of the audience is familiar with the lyrics, singing along as the couple croons the words.

Bocelli and Berti’s voices come together beautifully, with both putting on an emotional show. At one point, Berti takes Bocelli’s hand, guiding her blind husband to the front of the crowd before finishing the song with a sweet kiss.
