Who said that choirs could only perform Gospel music?

On America’s Got Talent, Angel City Chorale proves that a choir can perform just about any song!

When they first appeared on America’s Got Talent, the choir impressed the judges with their massive size. They perform with anywhere from 140 to 160 people.

In their first appearance, Angel City Chorale performed “Africa” by Toto and is seriously impressed the judges. They moved onto the Judges Cut round, where their rendition of “Baby Yetu” earned them a Golden Buzzer from the guest judge, Olivia Munn.

For their third performance on America’s Got Talent, Angel City Chorale returned with one of their most powerful song choices yet. They picked “This Is Me” from the hit musical film, The Greatest Showman.

The Quarterfinals performance was absolutely breathtaking. While the song is typically sung as a solo, the choir did a beautiful job with this.

After they were done singing, the judges gave them a standing ovation and had a lot to say to Angel City Chorale.

Howie Mandel was quick to express his worry that America wouldn’t realize just how amazing the performance was – because they weren’t in the room!

“We totally surrounded in the room, in this audience. It just went right through you. The people at home are watching it on TV. And maybe some of them don’t have great speakers. But I’m here to tell you it is amazing!”

Mel B told the group that she loved that they weren’t perfect. Instead of being perfect, she believes that Angel City Chorale because their music makes people feel good and happy.

Heidi Klum said:

“Your sound is so powerful. All 150 of you. I think that you are united and it doesn’t matter what belief you are, it doesn’t matter what race you are, it doesn’t matter how old you are, I think we’ll all learn something from you guys.”

Simon Cowell said he’d make his critique quick. He told Angel City Chorale that if he died during their performance and that was what heaven was like, he would be very happy.

The performance was shared on America’s Got Talent’s Facebook page and in under an hour, it had over 65,000 views, hundreds of comments and hundreds of shares.
