Another Golden Buzzer act has come onto America’s Got Talent!
And this time it is actually an act we’ve seen before! Just a few weeks ago, Angel City Chorale auditioned for the show and blew the judges away with their performance. They didn’t get a Golden Buzzer then, but now they’ve finally gotten it.
Mel B asked the leader of the Angel City Chorale, Sue Fink, if she was the one to start the group herself.
Sue said:
“I wanted to start something to give back to the community. We try to represent diversity. Different religions, different ages, we’re black, white, rich, poor, gay, straight. Even the democrats and republicans can sit next to each other!”
For their second performance on America’s Got Talent, the choir sang “Baba Yetu” by Christopher Tin, which is a song that featured an original choir!
The entire choir used their bodies, instruments, and voices to transport the audience, judges, and everyone watching at home to another place while they sang.
After their performance, the judges got to tell the choir what they thought of them.
Howie Mandel started off the commentary by saying:
“Not only am I listening to you and I’m absorbing the sound but I am looking at your faces. Everybody is just living the song, more than just playing the song or singing the song. You took me on a journey. And I love you!”
Mel B had to agree with Howie’s comments and even added:
“You took me out of my seat and somewhere. Your harmonies and what you stand for and Sue, I have to give you props, you made this happen, you brought everyone together. I love you guys!”
Simon Cowell told them how much he liked them and was inspired by them. He felt that they stand for something amazing.
Guest judge Olivia Munn told the choir that she was so moved by their performance. In the middle of her commentary, it seemed her microphone cut out.
But actually, she was playing around. Olivia asked the judges and the choir if they could hear her, then she said, “well can you hear this?” before she slammed down on the Golden Buzzer.
After that, gold confetti shot out of the ceiling and canons in the floor to cover the entire choir. Olivia rushed onto the stage to huge members of the choir.
America’s Got Talent shared the performance on their Facebook page and in under an hour it had over 300,000 views, 8,000 likes, 3,000 shares, and hundreds of comments.
One Facebook user wrote:
I don’t know what it is about them, but their sound just takes you on an adventure! Another well deserved gold buzzer! Happy for both choirs!
While another commenter said:
I got goosebumps listening!! So awesome and powerful! Thanks to Olivia Munn for sending them through to the live show!!! Fantastic!!!
However, some fans of AGT are tired of seeing singing acts getting Golden Buzzers:
Oh look…another singing act got a golden buzzer… SOMETHING NEW AND DIFFERENT!!
What did you think of this choir? Do you think that they can go all the way on AGT? They’re certainly the best choir I’ve ever seen on the show!
America’s Got Talent airs on Tuesday night at 8 PM on NBC, directly followed by World of Dance.
