What is more epic than Andrea Bocelli singing? How about Andrea Bocelli singing a classic Christmas hymn a cappella inside a cave?

The legendary tenor and opera singer stands inside the Frasassi Caves in Italy looking very handsome in a tux as he belts out “Silent Night” the only way he knows how. Like a boss.

Andrea may have been blinded at the age of twelve but his singing has opened the eyes and hearts of many.

True to the message of Christmas, Bocelli looks immaculate but is surrounded by the simplicity and stunning beauty of the caves. He sings about the virgin birth that happened so many years ago in Bethlehem.

Perhaps Andrea dressed up because in his head, he is visiting and serenading the infant Jesus. And he didn’t want to make a scene with a full band. So much like that little drummer boy, he keeps it simple. And that’s just beautiful.

Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht” was written back in 1818 by a young priest named Joseph Mohr. It was first heard during Christmas Eve mass in St. Nicholas Church in Oberndorf.

The story goes that the young priest took a quiet stroll in the village and as he looked out at the winter-laden town, the inspiration hit him. What made the moment so profound was that this was after the effect of the Napoleonic Wars.

The church organ was broken. Father Mohr needed a song for the evening service so he turned to Franz Xavez Gruber, a school master and organist to turn his poem into a song. And it worked.

Now there are hundreds, if not thousands, of versions out there. This is one of the most beloved Christmas songs of all time so each rendition has to be special. It was Celine Dion who said that if God had a singing voice, it would be Andrea Bocelli’s.

Now how special is that?

The way Andrea’s voice resonates in that cave makes you wonder why he bothers singing with a band. The acoustics make for a truly heavenly piece of work. Even the angles would marvel at this man’s talent.

Stefan Balugani commented,

“This is the proof that even without music Andrea is always able to illuminate our hearts with joy.”

There’s just an indescribable wonder when Andrea sings this way.

The cave lends itself well to Bocelli and his Christmas hymn. It looks like an ancient cathedral of sorts.

“Just what I needed to hear Andrea’s angelic voice. The cave brings out all its richness and beauty as he sings A cappella and it resonates off the walls.”

Says Fauve.

The world isn’t so bad when you see and hear artists of this caliber. Andrea is a living reminder that there is something divine in man if he only chooses to live it. Everyone says his is a God-given voice. They’re probably right.
