Magic is one of the oldest performing arts and people are simply drawn to it.

Most of us enjoy that feeling of wonder when something can’t be explained logically, which is why you can see magic everywhere. Theaters, corporate parties, TV shows, children’s birthdays—magic is everywhere, and you can’t deny that it can get very entertaining sometimes.

However, if you don’t believe in it, take a look at the Chinese magician who is pretty good at convincing people otherwise.

His card trick is mind-blowing.

The 2018 world’s magic champion is the first magician from Asia to win the top prize.

Yes, there was a little skepticism because of the video title that says “world’s best magic trick.”

The man won the champion title and everything, but we weren’t thinking he would be that good at keeping us obsessed with the trick. Eric Chien, a Chinese magician who was raised in the United States, has won an International Federation of Magic Societies’ world championship title in 2018.

It officially makes him one of the best magicians in the world, because that contest is considered to be some kind of the Olympics for the magicians.

Chien can also brag with two major awards more, he’s the winner of the third season of Asia’s Got Talent and a semi-finalist of America’s Got Talent.

His 57,200 Instagram followers are in for a big treat because Eric posts often, and you can find several impressive things on the page.

The trick you’re about to see is called “Ribbon.” We think it’s one of the most interesting things we’ve seen in a while.

Throughout the trick, the cards are disappearing and the colors are changing out of nowhere.

What an elaborate and interesting trick!

The stuff Eric pulls out here is impressive because there is a story within the trick. It begins quite simply: you have a magician sitting at the table with two decks of cards in front of him. One deck is blue, the other is red. There is also a white ribbon on the table, and two more square-like paper shapes in the corners. Notice that Eric wears a black waistcoat—that’s where the fun begins.

He starts playing with cards, doing some simple tricks and exploring what’s going on, and suddenly he realizes that there’s magic in the ribbon.

It’s an effective way of gradually building up the trick. Chien lays the ribbon in a way it divides a table into two halves. We don’t know how he did it, but one half turned all blue and the other turned fully red.

Just look at his waistcoat—it suddenly has those two colors!

Eric is smooth and fast, and you’ll be replaying it again and again without realizing how he did it. We know we did!

Amazingly, the audience is constantly saying “wow” in total unison.

Getting so many people to say the same word at the same time is proof enough of how stunned everyone is.

We didn’t finish describing the trick. In the end, cards start disappearing—just like that!

We don’t know how much time it took him, but Eric has won us over completely.

Since it was posted, it has earned more than two million YouTube views.

It’s not only about the trick; it’s the way Chien performs it.

He seems to be genuinely confused and amazed by everything that’s going on. He acts as if there was real magic going on in front of his eyes.
