While some kids spend their childhoods playing at parks and dabbling in activities, there are others who make incredible achievements even before their 10th birthdays. In fact, the world is full of extremely talented kids – and we can witness many of these achievements or performances simply by going online.
One pair of miniature ice skaters from Russia managed to captivate a crowd with their routine during Swan Lake. But thanks to the internet, people across the globe have been impressed by their skills too.
Get ready to be amazed by the tiny duo’s spectacular performance. Although they’re young, they’ve also spent a lot of time practicing on the ice.
The boy in the video is Alexander Plushenko. He’s the son of Russian Olympic medalist, Evgeni Plushenko, a champion figure skater who retired in 2017. So it’s unsurprising that Alexander decided to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Believe it or not, the kid currently has 356K subscribers on Instagram already. His page features videos and photos of him on the ice, and other fun family moments as well.
In the video, Alexander is partnered up with another very talented little skater named Ilina Askarova.
According to International Figure Skating Club, she attended the Angels of Plushenko academy, which Evgeni opened in 2017. On the academy’s website they say:
“The Academy offers high-quality training and small group work in accordance with the curriculum developed by Evgeni Plushenko and his team of coaches.”
The audience was in for a real treat when it was time for Alexander and Ilina’s duet on the ice.
At first, there are other Swan Lake performers standing frozen on the rink while the young pair skates around them. But after a couple of moments, it clears out and they take the spotlight.
Ilina’s beautifully dressed in a glittery white costume looking like a swan, and Alexander’s wearing a dashing prince’s outfit. Together they appear to be a perfect match.
With all eyes on them, the duo goes into action.
If you’ve ever seen an ice skating performance, you know they can be magical experiences full of “ooh” and “ahh” moments. It’s amazing how elegant skaters can be, all while dazzling the crowd with their moves.
Alexander and Ilina do not disappoint. They glide across the ice performing spins and breathtaking moves that are impressive, to say the least. It’s easy to tell that all their training, practice, and dedication is paying off.
At one point, Ilina raises her leg straight to the sky and holds it as she skates around the rink. The move is stunning, and it even caught the eye of viewers.
