It’s always a dream come true when your idol notices you.
We idolize one iconic figure in whatever field we want to excel in – singers, dancers, athletes, models, artists, etc.
Their work and dedication inspire us to be like them, so we follow in their footsteps and hope to get noticed.
Social media is one easy way to do so.
Many people upload impressive posts and tag their idols; a simple like or share already means something.
If you want to do the old-school route, you can always write a fan mail.
Who knows? You’ll be sharing the limelight in their next show!
That happened to Anjali Singh, a young singer who loves Celine Dion.
At the time, she was a second-grade student studying in Los Angeles and had an incredible passion for singing.
She’s been tapped to sing the National Anthem on various occasions and numerous times at UCLA, USC, and for the LA Sparks and LA Lakers, even at a young age.
You can tell that there’s something special about her voice.
But nothing could ever compare to the experience of singing for your ultimate idol!
The then-seven-year-old Anjali was with her mother when they visited Las Vegas and watched a Celine Dion show in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
They were sitting front row until Celine read a letter she wrote that said, “Can I please sing a song with you?”
Celine Dion called her up by the front of the stage.
She asked Anjali to sing a short line of any of her songs for the entire crowd.
The little girl excitedly grabbed the microphone, composed herself, and started singing.
And boy, did she not shy away from that moment!
Anjali belted out one of Celine’s best hits, “I Surrender”.
Her voice filled the room, and she sang the song’s chorus.
Knowing that it is THE Celine Dion, one of the world’s most famous pop divas, you know this song won’t be too easy to sing.
But Anjali sang it flawlessly.
The Queen of Power Ballads was amazed by Anjali’s voice.
While listening onstage, her reaction in the background was so expressive you knew she was blown away.
That gaping mouth and ecstatic applause? That reaction says it all.
Celine gave Anjali a hug and a kiss after her performance.
And you know she was super impressed with this young girl’s voice because she went down on the floor to reach out to Anjali for that hug and kiss!
Anjali also handed Celine a card she had written for her.
The powerful diva glanced at the paper and handed it to her security personnel.
But before she set it aside in her fan mail collection, she asked Anjali one more thing:
She had her sign the card in case Anjali would be famous someday.
“Does anybody here have a pencil, a pen, or anything? Because I want her autograph,” she said over the microphone. “Because if she goes to America’s Got Talent, maybe she’s gonna win, and I’m gonna have her autograph!”
It was indeed a memorable night for Anjali. Thanks to the fantastic Celine Dion.
