In July 2011 a star was born. It was Oscar Donnelly, the boy who would become one of the youngest achieved Irish dancers ever.

Oscar lives in New Stevenson, near Motherwell in Scotland, with his mom, Annie Walters, and dad, Chris. From an early age, it was clear he was a natural in dance. When he was three he took his first steps in Irish dance and since then he hasn’t stopped surprising everyone with his talent!

In the featured video, almost-5-year old Oscar is competing in the Kilkenny Races, dancing at a speed of 110 BPM (beats per minute)- for those who are not familiar with the Irish step dance terminology, this speed is normally attempted by teenage dancers. In the video, one can also observe that young Oscar is wearing hard shoes, which is also uncommon for dancers his age. Generally, children at the age of 4 still wear soft shoes when they are working on their dancing moves.

In the comment section of the video, one can read plenty of comments, especially by teenagers who praise the little boy for his moves and speed, which they are still trying to achieve in their early teens.

Everyone was impressed by this performance, but this wasn’t the first time the little boy had participated in dancing competitions. Oscar started as early as 2015 and by 2017 he had already won 40 trophies. At least this was what he told Dawn French on “Little Big Shots“. In that interview, little Oscar melted hearts with his cuteness and spontaneous answers.

“Do you dance around the house at all, Oscar?” the TV presenter asks him, and he answers “Yes, I practice all the time”. And when he is asked how he feels about it, he answers disarmingly “Comfortable.”

It was only natural that a year later, he found himself on Britain’s Got Talent to perform in front of judges Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Amanda Holden, and Alesha Dixon. When the judges welcomed young Oscar on stage, they asked him what he would do if he won the 250,000 GBP that came with the prize, he answered that he would spend them on a Bugatti, and he got them all smiling with his sweetness.

Today, Oscar Donnelly keeps doing what he loves the most, dancing. As his mother said, it’s not just Irish dance that he’s interested in, but he seems to be attracted by all kinds of dances since he has a great understanding of music and rhythm. The young dancer also has an Instagram account, followed by more than 5K people, where he shares his latest news related to dancing competitions he participates in. He even won his first trophy for the new year, being U9 Champion at the city of Birmingham championships.
