In the world of dance, finding a partner who has the same energy, vibe, and passion as you, is maybe one in a million.
There are also times when one might overshine the other, and that’s not good.
Sondre Olsen-Bye and Tanya Georgiievska won the Boogie Woogie Fast Final Round at the World Master Frauenfeld, Switzerland, last October 06, 2017.
The video of their winning dance garnered more than 44M views.
You don’t have to be a dancer to appreciate this video, and once you get to know them better, you’ll fall in love with this duo even more.
Sondre was born and grew up in Norway, but now lives in Ukraine.
At just five years old, this adorable young boy showed his talent and passion for dancing.
At eight, he first took part in his first Swing dance competition.
By thirteen years old, he began teaching locally.
His career in dancing took off last 2007 when he joined Norway’s Got Talent, and people started noticing his talent.
That was the beginning of the many awards he received.
Tanya was born and raised in Ukraine. At the young age of four, the young lady started classical dancing.
As she grew, so did her vast knowledge of different dances.
Last 2010, Tanya married and became a mom, but that didn’t stop her from pursuing her dancing career.
The two talented dancers met last 2015 at a SwingOut Festival.
Since then, they started their career as partners and have been taking the world of dance by storm.
In the viral performance, the duo chose Georgia Gibbs’ “I Want You To Be My Baby” (c.1955).
At the start of the music, we see them coming into the center stage already feeling the beat of the music.
Their footwork was impeccable!
We know how Boogie Woogie works, right?
It’s fun, upbeat, and playful, so we know at first sight that Sondre and Tanya were perfect for this performance.
Their aura radiated that playful Boogie Woogie spirit as they danced their way to the audience’s hearts.
We can’t help but noticed how light they seem.
If you pay attention to their footwork, it seemed like they were flying and gliding in the air.
If you have danced Boogie Woogie before, you know that their dance number required them hours and hours of practice.
They made each step perfectly.
One wrong move and everyone will notice it. But for Tanya and Sondre, their performance was light, playful, and upbeat.
There’s another thing that made their performance extra special.
It’s how they smile, enjoy, and would often lip-sync to the song.
Dancing and being one with the dance are two different things, and these two were definitely one with their dance.
The crowd wowed and screamed as they did different stunts, and after they did each one successfully, they faced the audience and smiled.
That’s a winner right there.
They won first place in this category, and we’re not even surprised.
After all, they were amazing dancers.
