Who would’ve thought that this shy teenager would have the voice of a lion?
America’s Got Talent (AGT) isn’t just limited to talented people in the US.
The show welcomes and brings in talents of all ages from all over the world. Theyll f’ind talent wherever it may be.
Courtney Hadwin is full of talent.
Courtney is a thirteen-year-old girl from Hartlepool, England, who really loves to sing and perform.
That was very evident when she stepped out onto the AGT stage and belted out her audition.
But did we mention she’s shy?
When she first walked out onto the stage, she was beyond nervous. Courtney was almost dragging her feet. She had a nervous smile on her face and kept her hands behind her back.
AGT judge Mel B was the first one to reassure her before the audition.
“That’s okay to be nervous, that’s totally understandable,” Mel B told her.
She asked Courtney a couple of easy questions to put her at ease.
It was going well until she asked Courtney what kind of music she liked. Courtney’s mind must be drawing a blank at that moment because she said she didn’t know.
Judges knew Courtney had to start singing.
Mel B reassured her once again and wished her luck. Courtney took a few seconds to compose herself before she gave the signal for the music to start.
As soon as she did, the first notes to The Black Crowe’s “Hard to Handle” came on and Courtney began to move to the music.
She became a whole different persona.
Even before Courtney sang the first notes, the judges were surprised. They were probably expecting Courtney to sing a pop or R&B song, not a rock song.
They were even more shocked when Courtney’s voice roared like a lion to this iconic rock song.
No one expected what they were hearing.
The judges and the audience loved it. As for Courtney, she rocked the stage. She was moving around just like a rockstar would.
Courtney may look like a very shy girl when she’s not singing but when she’s in her element, she is unstoppable.
She maneuvered that stage and rocked the song. Everyone present was swept up in her energy.
Courtney owned that stage.
When she was finished, she got a standing ovation from the judges and from the crowd.
Even Simon Cowell was still shocked at the sudden transformation of this shy teenager a few minutes ago.
Simon said she was just incredible.
Then it was Howie’s turn to speak.
Howie said what we all thought, Courtney is not from this era or from this generation.
Then he compared Courtney to Janis Joplin and how record producer Clive Davis signed her and changed her life.
Howie was no Clive Davis but he could do something for Courtney at that moment. That’s when he pushed the Golden Buzzer and changed Courtney’s life.
Courtney may not have won America’s Got Talent that season but years later, she has released her own music style and her own album.
At AGT, Courtney owned the stage.
Now, Courtney is ready to own the world.
