Throughout history, dancing has served many different purposes.

For some people, it is a form of expression, others call it art and some consider it as a recreational activity. And most people nowadays take it as a form of exercise to make working out a little more interesting.

Line dancing is a common type of dance that takes place with a group of people lined up in rows, executing the same movements in a synchronized manner.

The origins of line dance remain unclear, but it’s a tradition that goes way back.

Despite the claims of many people regarding the roots of the dance and how it came to be, whatever its source, the immense popularity and growth of line dancing have been inextricably tied to country and western music.

Thus this squad of gorgeous women chose the song “Cotton Eye Joe” to be used in their performance.

“Cotton Eye Joe” is a traditional American country folk song popular at various eras throughout the United States and Canada.

Many groups gave their own rendition of the upbeat song which earned them Grammy nominations. And one of them was the Swedish group Rednex whose version became widely popular.

Donning their best cowboy boots to match their Wrangler jeans and shirts, and a cowboy hat to complete their look, these ladies are set to conquer the dance floor!

Giving us the ultimate western American vibes, these 10 ladies were definitely ready to cut a rug. Everyone dances alone, side by side, facing the same direction in lines or rows. The dance routine consists of patterned foot movements that are usually performed following several counts per sequence. This arrangement of steps will be repeated until the music ends.

After a count of four, their performance starts.

Some of the girls are confident enough to look straight to the audience, knowing the simple choreography like the back of their hands. However, some keep an eye on their feet whilst counting in their head, afraid to miss a step.

The beauty of line dance, especially when you are having a window formation, is that you can just copy the steps of the person in front of you as long as you don’t make it that obvious.

Obviously, you don’t want the audience to catch you cheating!

Bear in mind, being is discreet is the key—and whatever happens, the show must go on.

Just like any other dance number, mishaps can’t be avoided.

In this video, two of the girls took the wrong step. However, they maintained their composure and continued dancing as if nothing happened. They tried their best to follow through with the rest of the repetitive choreography like the unbothered queens they are.

The song is mainly comprised of four lines that get repeated throughout the song’s duration.

In the Rednex version, they added their own style to give new flavor to the song by combining folk, techno and bluegrass music. The Rednex version of the song which used “Eye” instead of “Eyed,, along with a dance-mix version, was very successful in Europe.
