Turning five-years-old is an exciting time in a child’s life. For many, it’s the year they’ll start kindergarten and perhaps try out a team sport or instrument. But of course, it’s also an age to simply have fun being a kid!
Evan Le is a boy from California that enjoys typical kid activities like going to amusement parks, museums, and building with Legos. However, he also has an extraordinary musical talent that began to shine through when he was a toddler.
If you haven’t witnessed Evan playing the piano before, prepare to be amazed at how skilled he was at just five-years-old!
Evan is the son of Vietnamese-American parents and has an older brother named Brandon. But what’s fascinating is that his mom and dad don’t have musical backgrounds.
According to Evan’s website and social media accounts, his interest in music started at two-and-a-half after his brother got a toy piano. While most kids might bang on a keyboard, Evan instead played the keys one at a time and listened closely to the notes. He then began asking his dad, “What do you call this?” in regards to the sounds.
Not long after, Evan was given an electric piano to play since it was obvious he had a developing passion for music.
He became “obsessed” with the instrument and by the age of three, he could listen to kids’ songs and then play similar versions on the piano. His bio explains that he started with one hand but then used both.
Evan began taking lessons at the Virtuosos Russian Music Academy in late 2014, and over the years his skills have continued to progress. In addition to playing the piano, he enjoys composing his own music and can quickly memorize musical pieces as well.
Evan Le is a child prodigy that has stunned listeners around the world. At four-years-old, he even appeared on Little Big Shots where he left host Steve Harvey speechless.
Many of his musical performances have been uploaded to YouTube where Evan has more than 100,000 subscribers. One in particular that racked up millions of views when he was five-years-old (and six months).
Get ready to be blown away by the youngster’s rendition of Frédéric Chopin’s “Minute Waltz,” which was composed in 1847.
In the video, little Evan is sitting on a piano bench dressed in a nice white shirt. He takes several moments at first to prepare himself. But once he’s ready, there’s no stopping him, and his one hand presses down on the keys at lightning speed. Evan soon brings his other hand in and goes on to play the song masterfully.
Some of us don’t have a musical bone in our body, so it’s difficult to fathom how a five-year-old could play so skillfully.
However, watching him in action it’s apparent how much love and passion he has for the art form. He’s pretty incredible indeed!
Besides music, Evan also enjoys playing chess, solving math problems, and according to his site, “is always eager and ready to learn.”
Listening to a talented piano player is a special treat that can be soothing to the soul. But when the musician’s only the age of a kindergartner, it simply takes your breath away.
