In the recently concluded 24 Seven Anaheim Dance Competition, a group of young and talented dancers gave their audience a performance to remember and their inspiration came from the soundtrack of the 1978 musical Grease. They totally nailed the dance and even went home as 3rd Overall Winner for the Mini-Jazz category.
The group calls themselves “Project 21” and their unforgettable performance is inspired by the iconic film.
With all of them clad in black leotards and their hair in matching styles, the girls began their routine and instantly captivated their audience.
From forming a single line, the young girls broke into formation and started to move in quick but fluid movements. Their stage presence shone and the viewers were easily hooked by their performance.
Dancing to the upbeat tune of Grease Is The Word”, the girls moved with the energy and artistry that the music entailed. They were in sync and were undoubtedly making a great impact on their audience.
Their sleek costumes made their moves look even more graceful and smooth. They were mesmerizing to watch and their energy is totally infectious. They absolutely gave justice to the song and it was the most amazing thing!
The movie Grease is all about the attraction between greaser Danny Zuko played by John Travolta and Australian transfer student Sandy Olsson played by Olivia Newton-John. It was one of the most celebrated films of the 1970s and was filled with music and romance that was absolutely loved by people around the globe.
It grossed a whopping amount of about $396 million worldwide! It used to be the highest-grossing live-action musical until it was eclipsed by Les Misérables in 2012. As of today, Grease is considered as the seventh-highest grossing live-action musical in the world.
It is no doubt a great source of inspiration if you want to capture an audience’s attention. Project 21 chose their material wisely and it totally paid off.
Of course, their material may be the best but their talent and grace are definitely huge factors in their fabulous number. These girls are absolutely talented and were determined to showcase their skills through their dance.
As their performance went on, the girls were consistently elevating their game and showing the audience what they are really made of.
They were working well together and making each move as memorable as the last. They were incredible dancers, indeed!
The teamwork is seen in their impeccable harmony and their stage presence is felt and seen in their expressive faces. They are the team to beat and they were determined to prove that they are what dancers should be.
Thir routine is a modern dance mixed with just the right amount of technical moves that left their audience wowed and pleasantly surprised. Their stunts are subtle but certainly eye-catching and everyone hung on to their performance until they reached the amazing finale.
