12-year-old Ida Wargskog lives in Warsaw, but has Swedish roots since her dad comes from Sweden.
She is a regular visitor of Sweden which means Ida is also fluent in Swedish.
She has been interested in music since her early childhood, though astronomy is also her passion.
But when she sings in English, the world stops and listens.
Ida took part in the fifth edition of The Voice Kids.
For the blind auditions, she performed Elvis Presley’s “Can’t help falling in love”, showing everyone her syrupy sweet voice.
The young lady then went to the team of Tomson and Baron.
For those who are still confused as to how the competition plays out, there are four phases.
Stage one is the blind audition, stage two is the battle rounds, stage three is the sing off, while stage four is the final live performance.
Contestants are aged eight to fifteen, though from season 4, contestants are aged eight to fourteen.
During those blind auditions, each of the coaches selects and mentors 18 contestants.
In the battle stage, the participants are divided into three groups so they can challenge participants from the other teams.
Each of those battles results in one winner, but the coaches will not name a participant who loses.
Battle stage winners then go to the sing-off stage where the coaches select nine finalists, three from each of the teams.
Those nine finalists will perform live and the winner is chosen by the viewing audience using SMS voting.
That winner receives a scholarship and the chance to release a song with Universal Music Polska (for The Voice Poland).
Can you guess where Ida ended up?
Looking lovely in her dress, the audience wave their hands along to the melody as young Ida sings the Elvis classic.
She doesn’t try anything fancy or complicated, just singing true to the melody, enchanting and captivating her audience all the while.
For young Ida to choose a song from 1961, that means she has impeccable taste in music!
“Can’t Help Falling in Love” was featured in Elvis Presley’s 1961 film Blue Hawaii.
It’s a song that’s been recorded by many other artists, like Swedish pop group A-Teens, and the British reggae group UB40, their 1993 version topping the US and UK charts.
The song was listed as one of the greatest songs by Rolling Stone, placed #403 in the list’s 2012 edition.
It is one of those timeless songs that endears itself to listeners.
Just like Ida, who managed to catch the hearts of the coaches and the crowd.
She actually reached the finals!
Oftentimes, less really is more, especially with performances.
Ida never bothered with a flashy outfit, striking lights, or loud instruments.
She just allowed her voice to do all the work, fully confident that she’ll still end up impressing everyone.
Here’s another young up and coming singer to watch out for!
