Start them young. It’s a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll. Rock aficionados, rejoice! The future looks bright so long as we have awesome parents who get their kids in to music, playing instruments and introducing them to the good stuff.
Let them fiddle with your guitars, keyboards, and drum kits. That natural curiosity may give birth to the next legend of rock. Just like this five year old banger!
His jam for the day? AC/DC’s “Back in Black”.
So sit back and enjoy as this young prince of rock unleashes his prowess while his cool dad plays electric guitar in the background.
He’s got the basic kit complete too. Bass, snare, floor tom, tom-tom, hi-hat, crash, and ride cymbals with the attitude to match. The little dude looks pretty excited to start playing too. Dad counts it off and they begin.
AC/DC is an Australian rock band. Formed in Sydney in 1973, Scottish brothers Angus and Malcolm Young started it off with other members coming and going until first lead singer and co-writer Bon Scott died of acute alcohol poisoning.
Hey, it’s rock and roll.
Instead of disbanding, Angus and Malcolm decided to bring in Brian Johnson as the new vocalist releasing the album Back in Black which they dedicated to Scott’s memory.
It has since become one of the best selling albums of all time propelling the rock band to dizzying heights of success.
That trademark and notable guitar riff opens with a bang along with the drums which, as all rock heads know, is already a head banging moment.
Dad tells his son to start it off with a count of eight to which his little drummer does with passion. The little guy obviously loves it, letting out an exclamation of delight as he bangs on the drums. This dude is going places.
Dad describes the video,
“I wanted to record a version of this before he turned 5 but I just missed it. His 5th birthday was 4 days ago. We had worked on this one previously but added some additional parts mostly by listening to the song in the car and playing ‘air drums’. This is the first time we played this arrangement with the single note guitar line and additional cymbal crashes. Not perfect but pretty darn good for a 5 year old kid!”
That’s such an awesome way to celebrate a birthday. 16 million plus views got them thunderstruck!
It’s not quite perfect but again, this is rock and roll. Give him a few more years and dad may have to be the one catching up on his Zachary Z2 guitar. Just watch out for the drugs, drinking, and girls…
This kid is unreal! The consistency and timing need some work but hey, that’s what practice is about. All these rock legends started off the same way. It’s not rock and roll if there are no struggles.
He’s already got female fans too,
“Very good coordination!!!!!!….he looks like he loved playing….awesome Dad for helping him to do this….instead of playing video games…..he is awesome. ……man when I was 5 I was watching Scooby Doo eating Cheetos puffs. Lol”
Watch out, dad. You may have started something you can’t handle. Unless dad is in it too… Don’t tell mom then.
Rock out with the little drummer boy in the video below!
