An amazingly talented little girl surprised Ukraine’s Got Talent.

Sofia Schkidchenko was only 11 when she got up on the stage in front of three judges while the entire world looked on.

Sofia looked cute in her dress and pigtails. But the judges had no idea what was about to hit them.

She started singing a lively country song.

Her voice was lovely, but there was a sudden twist that got everyone clapping and cheering.

That’s right, Sofia can yodel like nobody’s business.

Yodeling isn’t exactly the first thing you’d expect to come out of a child’s mouth, but Sofia does it with ease and skill. Her powerful voice makes yodeling, something often thought of as hokey or goofy, into something beautiful.

The truth is that yodeling is really, really hard.

It takes an enormous amount of skill, breath control, and the ability to manipulate one’s own vocal cords. Sofia has it all down … and she was only 11 years old.

People around the world were amazed by her skill and precision, as well as her beautiful voice.

“OMG she is soo amazing!” wrote one YouTube commenter. “That’s the most beautiful singing/yodeling I’ve ever heard.”

Others, meanwhile, joked that if they attempted to yodel, they would cause a panic.

And, of course, a couple of experts weighed in as well.

“I am from Switzerland and I can aprove [sic],” wrote one YouTube commenter.

Sofia participated in the 2017 youth competition featured on Ukraine’s Got Talent. Nowadays, she’s still singing and performing, with her own YouTube channel going strong with more than 6,000 subscribers. She still yodels but also delves into other genres including pop, rock, jazz, and more.

Some have even dubbed her the “Ukrainian Walmart girl,” referencing the “Walmart yodeling boy” who became famous around the world after a video of him performing in an Illinois store went viral in March 2018.

Mason Ramsay, 12, gained worldwide fame for his impromptu performance of Hank Williams’ “Lovesick Blues.”

The video went around the Internet, getting dozens of remixes, captions, and sparking a variety of memes. Since his brief stint of fame, Mason has released a single but has largely faded from the spotlight. However, he does now have his own YouTube channel with 589,000 subscribers.

He accompanies himself on the guitar and largely sticks to country songs, but his fan base remains strong.

He’ll have an interesting story of the start of his career: one YouTube video of him yodeling alongside some Walmart merchandise.

As for Sofia, she’s rapidly making a name for herself in her own right. Yodeling may not be the most modern or popular form of music, but it takes a lot of talent. And it’s clear that Sofia has heaps of it.
