World War II, a dark chapter in human history, witnessed the loss of countless lives in the battle for freedom.

Many of those who served still bear the scars of war.

As of 2017, only about half a million of the 16 million Americans who served in WWII remain.

With most veterans now around 90 years old, it’s estimated that in 20 years, no living WWII veterans will be left.

In the midst of this reality, a British choir named The D-Day Darlings has taken up the mantle to keep the memory of these veterans alive.

Founded in 2008 by Katie Ashby, the group started as a trio and has since become a well-known name in the military world.

They’ve even graced historical sites like the Imperial War Museum with their presence.

Dressed in their uniforms, with hair styled in victory rolls, they lined up in a V-formation and began singing a classic wartime song, captivating the audience with their harmonious voices.

The song they chose was “The White Cliffs of Dover,” a WWII hit originally written as a poem by Alice Duer Mueller and later turned into a motion picture.

The song, popularized by Vera Lynn, paints a picture of hope and peace for Britain, with its chorus promising bluebirds over the white cliffs of Dover and a world free of war.
