There isn’t much that can compare to having a good time with friends.
Though those moments might seem a lot more rare these days due to the current pandemic, we still have technology to get us through.
Typically, in a time when we might be camping, hiking, and barbecuing with friends, we have to accept that this year is quite different.
However, not all is lost!
Nowadays many of us are communicating with friends and loved ones through video call software such as Zoom or Skype in addition to texts, phone calls, and social media.
While it isn’t like getting together and sharing a great meal and a few drinks, it certainly is better than having no communication at all.
But if all else fails, the internet is there to entertain you. Specifically, video sharing platforms like YouTube.
YouTube offers endless videos to make us laugh and smile. One video, specifically, shows five friends getting together in order to dance to Alan Jackson’s, “Chattahoochee.”
Chatta- what?
Chances are you might not have heard the word “Chattahoochee” if you’re not very fond of maps or you’ve never lived in the south, particularly in Alabama, Georgia, or Florida.
Chattahoochee is a river that flows along the borders of Alabama and Georgia and ends in Florida when it empties into Apalachicola Bay into the Gulf of Mexico. In addition, the river is also 430 miles long.
Alan Jackson, who hails from Georgia, wrote the song with Jim McBride. The song is simple and many may find it relatable as it’s about “having fun, growing up, and coming of age in a small town.”
Jackson himself has said that the song can apply to anybody who grew up in a small town, not just by the Chattahoochee River.
Even though the song was released in 1993, it remains a country staple. In fact, its influence can be seen in several YouTube videos, primarily where a group of women line dance to the hit song.
In one video, five young ladies sporting cowboy hats, boots, pink tank tops, and belts with large buckles can be seen hopping, skipping, and stepping to the song.
The young women appear to be friends and seem to have thought the video through before shooting it.
It starts with the women standing and chatting under a tree in the vast greenery near a pond.
Clearly, they chose a fitting setting. Next, the camera focuses on their boots as they step in unison to the downbeat of the song.
Before we know it, the ladies are in full-swing as they hop-skip from side-to-side as the beginning of the song plays.
Try and stay seated as you watch the women twist and turn with such flare. The video isn’t even 30 seconds in and they look like they’re having a blast.
Each member gets her own time to shine as they perform solo routines while the rest sit in the background seemingly having a good time chatting.
But the real energy and the best performance is when they all perform the routine together.
Finally, the video ends with the color fading out, creating the sense of nostalgia that Jackson sings about in the song.
This video is great for those missing their friends and a good time. You can watch it below!
