Some songs are so simple in nature, yet they’re able to deliver us a great tidal wave of emotion.

Just ask Sam Smith, a masterful pop singer-songwriter responsible for giving us some of our favorite hits in modern times.
On his 2014 debut album, In the Lonely Hour, he graced us with the powerful single “Stay With Me.”
This anthemic song is laced with both simplicity and a hint of gospel to really drive the point home.
The message is also simple and to the point, but it rings out with sincerity. As with many of the best songs, this one came together relatively quickly according to Smith.
It went on to become his first hit, and simultaneously his first real introduction to the world.
Smith revealed in an interview the concept behind the song:
“It was Jimmy who came up with the idea of `stay with me,`” said Sam,” and that immediately got me thinking of a one-night stand, and my views on that. The lyric came from us just vibing. It’s about the moment in the morning after a one night stand, where the person you are with leaves your house, and you are left by yourself, and it’s just a second, where you are just like: ‘I wish, I wish‘. You don’t even love them, you don’t really fancy them that much, it’s just nice to have someone in the bed next to you.”
Whether this is the exact scenario you apply the meaning to or you reserve it for another love-story twist in your life, the song is a versatile and catchy plead for connection. It’s something we’ve all felt and can relate to.

According to her website, Trigwell began her musical endeavors at the age of 17, busking on the street.
Since then, she’s risen into the public eye to enjoy much success. Several publications have marked her as new and noteworthy, she’s completed sold-out international tours, debuted an album, and has received radio play and Spotify fame.
