Woman plays a perfectly soulful electric cover of “Lean On Me”

June 26th, 2020

In 1972, Bill Withers released “Lean On Me,” the first single from his second album.

The song became a number-one single on both the soul singles and the Billboard Hot 100. Furthermore, it is ranked number 208 on Rolling Stone’s list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.”

We suppose it’s only natural that numerous artists covered the song over time.

It has also sparked the interest of many musicians who post on YouTube. Let’s see what Helen Ibe did with the hit song.

One of the upcoming artists in Nigeria.

What’s so surprising is just how professional Ibe is at such a young age!

We wondered how it was possible that a person so young has developed such a massive musical vocabulary and an ear for harmonic and melodic beauty. Her skills are top-level—her skills are already at a level that most guitarists will never reach. The video begins with Ibe sitting on an orange sofa, wearing a grey dress, and sinking into a world of beautiful sounds she’s about to create.

Her electric white Fender is on her lap, and the first thing you’ll feel is how much she enjoys playing guitar.

You can feel the passion through the screen, and it seemed to us like that guitar was singing. It’s not something any musician can achieve. Now we understand the reason behind so many subscribers learning from her guitar lessons!

Her performance has it all—the complete visual, audio and emotional experience!

It’s not very often that you’ll come across a video that’s beautiful in every possible aspect—the song, the way Helen plays it, her facial expressions and the way she becomes one with her instrument.

What a spellbinding rendition of Bill Withers’ classic! The whole time, beautiful emotions flicker through each of her chord changes. In one of her videos, Ibe reveals that learning to play guitar was one of the best things that ever happened to her, though she also says that she’s not as good as she wants to be. It’s true, that there’s always room for improvement, but she’s already very impressive.

The first time she ever picked up a guitar was in a church, though she enrolled in guitar lessons at school shortly after. As her story shows, you never know where you’re going to find your inspiration, and once you find it, you have to pursue it passionately!
