When most people think of the piano, their thoughts automatically resort to Mozart or Beethoven—classic tunes that were composed hundreds of years ago.

However, the piano is an extremely versatile instrument that lends itself perfectly to every kind of song you can think of! One way to celebrate this is by playing piano covers. Mapping out melodies across the keys is an intimate way to explore virtually any song.

In our video today, a young Russian girl who goes by the handle Gamazda really knows how to tickle the ivories.

She describes herself on her Patreon (one way you can show your support):

“Hi everyone! My name is Alexandra Kuznetsova AKA Gamazda and I create a piano rock! Well, not only rock, of course but still, most often, rock. I was born and live in Moscow. I started playing piano at 3 years old and I later graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. In the spring of 2019 I started my own YouTube channel where I play covers in my own arrangement.”

In today’s video, Kuznetsova covers the classic Linkin Park hit, “In the End.”

“In the End” was released on Linkin Park’s debut album, Hybrid Theory, and remains one of their most notable and prominent songs.

Easily recognized by almost anyone, it’s a song that resonates with a deeper and more despairing part of our human nature.

Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has touched on the meaning of the song:

“There’s a weird battle with hopelessness and the ephemeral nature of time and our lives that the song is really about. And what’s so odd about the song is it’s almost talking about these things and saying, ‘I don’t have any answers.’ ‘Cause usually a song isn’t about having no answers, right? It just kind of runs itself around in a circle, lyrically. And especially as a young person, that’s just how I felt — that’s how we all felt. We didn’t know what to make of things, and, in a sense, that’s still what goes on today. It’s a timeless and universal thing.”

Kuznetsova truly captures the essence of this song with her masterful piano skills.
