For over a decade, the Rock That Swing Festival has been the go-to event for swing dance enthusiasts worldwide.
Showcasing a rich tapestry of dance styles from the Roaring Twenties to the Fabulous Fifties, the festival is a melting pot of talent and passion.
This year, the grand stage was none other than the Deutsches Theater in Munich, Germany, where everyone—from newbies to legends—felt right at home.
The 15th installment of this dance extravaganza was nothing short of spectacular, featuring 15 bands and 76 dance instructors over a span of four days.
Imagine a place where you can groove to any dance or music style you fancy, all while sipping on a cold German beer.
The spotlight was, of course, on the dancers, and boy, did they deliver some jaw-dropping performances. Let’s zoom in on one act that stole the show.
Meet Sondre Olsen-Bye and Tanya Georgeiievska, a dynamic duo who’ve been dancing in perfect harmony since 2015.
Their shared love for dance isn’t just a hobby; it’s a lifestyle.
They globe-trot together, teaching and learning, united by their passion for the art form.
On this special night, the couple dazzled the audience by dancing to Wilbert Harrison’s classic, “Sentimental Journey.”
Dressed to the nines—Sondre in a suave blue suit and Tanya in a vivacious green and blue dress—their radiant smiles were the perfect accessories to their already stunning outfits.
They looked every inch the picture-perfect couple, deeply in love with dance and each other.
Their chemistry on the dance floor was electric, making it evident that they were a match made in heaven.
The timeless move of “Give me your hand, take a step back, and twirl” seemed as fresh as ever.
Tanya’s smile could light up a room, and both dancers exuded a natural confidence and infectious energy that captivated everyone.
The way they moved was nothing short of mesmerizing.
Their hips swayed effortlessly, and their feet glided across the floor with a speed and smoothness that could only come from years of dedicated practice.
It was as if their joints had a life of their own!
Sondre, a native of Central Norway, and Tanya, hailing from Kiev, Ukraine, now call Warsaw, Poland, their home.
Both dancers have an impressive list of awards and titles under their belts, both individually and as a couple.
They started dancing at a young age—Sondre at 5 and Tanya at 4—and the rest, as they say, is “groovy history.”
Their performance was a visual feast, filled with graceful swing and shag steps that had the audience on the edge of their seats.
One of the highlights was when Sondre spun and dropped to his back, allowing Tanya to step and jive over him, eliciting cheers and applause from the crowd.
Their seamless coordination and trust in each other were evident in every move, making them a joy to watch.
Each move they pulled off seemed to outdo the last, leaving the audience in awe.
Seriously, these two are in a league of their own.
