We all know how frustrating it can be to get stuck in an airport overnight.
While most of us would likely wallow in annoyance, one woman chose to transform her experience into a dance-filled adventure. And this experience ended up bringing joy to everyone around her.
Meet Mahshid, a traveler journeying from New Jersey to Colorado for a wedding, with a stopover in Charlotte.
Upon her arrival at the Charlotte airport, she discovered she had missed her connecting flight and was stranded until the next morning.
Faced with two options, Mahshid decided to engage in the activity that brought her the most joy – dancing!
With her camera rolling, Mahshid began to dance right in the terminal.
But as we all know, dancing is much more fun when shared with others. So, she invited random strangers to join her spontaneous dance party.
The perfect soundtrack for this impromptu dance session? Lionel Richie’s “All Night Long.”
Even a worker at a coffee shop couldn’t resist swaying to the rhythm with her.
Mahshid’s infectious positivity inspired others around her. It turns out, there were plenty of people at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport who were in the mood for a dance – from employees to fellow passengers.
The best part? It seemed to lift everyone’s spirits!
But dancing wasn’t the only way Mahshid kept herself entertained.
With a great sense of humor and a joyful spirit, she showcased her comical side by doing things like “freshening up” with a spray bottle she sneakily borrowed from a cleaning cart.
After all, travel days can be long!

While airport jobs can be stressful, Mahshid’s dance party encouraged workers to let loose and smile.
As she shared on YouTube, “…I didn’t want to sit in anger all night long, so instead I did what makes me happiest…DANCE!!!! Oh, and I made some really great friends along the way! Thank you for dancing your troubles away with me!!! :)”
Not many people can claim they’ve moonwalked at an airport, but Mahshid can, and she’s quite good at it!
Lionel Richie’s hit “All Night Long” holds a special place in her heart.
As she explained in an email, “I used to sing this song as a child and it always uplifted my spirits and got me moving. Every time.”
After editing and posting her dance video online, it unsurprisingly went viral.
Viewers flooded her YouTube video with positive comments, praising her for spreading joy and her impressive dance skills.
But the best surprise was yet to come. Lionel Richie himself sent Mahshid an invitation to one of his shows in Vegas, where she got to meet him backstage! Now, isn’t that inspiring?
