They’re both great dancers, but the groom really took it to another level. :)

It’s a wonderful surprise when newly married couples decide to surprise their guests with a performance of their own during the reception. It’s become a bit of a trend as a matter of fact. The traditional first dance between new husband and wife has become a moment of fun for both. And why not since they have their whole lives ahead of them?

Weddings are parties too!

Very cool husband and wife. They actually planned to do this for the guests. It’s “The Git Up Challenge” by Blanco Brown. Do a quick search and you’ll see countless people doing this same challenge. People from all walks of life, from different occupations, and locations have all done their share of this popular challenge.

Meet Emily Ray and RJ.

The thing with this challenge is it’s fairly easy to do. The lyrics tell you what to do and if you’ve got a background in dancing, it should be easy enough to execute. Of course a bit of practice still goes a long way. Emily and RJ did just that.

They’ve got the moves!

The intro calls for people to grab a loved one or partner. Easy enough. Then it goes,

“Gon’ and do the 2 step then cowboy boogie
Grab your sweetheart and spin out with ’em
Do the hoedown and get into it
Take it to the left now and dip with it
Gon’ throw down, take a sip with it
Now lean back put your hips in it, let’s have some fun”

Now that could be interpreted in many ways depending on the dancers. For this lovely couple, it’s a lot of hip movements. Especially for RJ! This guy’s got incredible moves!

But you have to hand it to Emily as well. No easy feat dancing in a wedding dress like that. And once they lean back with some shoulder action, it’s clear to see that dancing comes naturally for both husband and wife.

Then the slip and slide.

Even the title says to watch the groom. And RJ does not disappoint. He has impeccable footwork and the way he uses his shoulders and hips to emphasize the song’s instructions border on awesome and funny.

The song’s country hip-hop style is catchy and is sure to get anyone moving. But to move like RJ and Emily? Now that requires skill. Pretty sure Emily would let it all out had it not been for her dress. She looks lovely by the way.

Take it down!

Things get raunchy when Emily turns her back on her man while RJ does a whipping, swinging dance facing his wife’s derriere. The guests roar in approval, cheering the couple on. Adults, honestly.

What a wedding dance!

One reason for this challenge’s surge in popularity is because of Blanco Brown himself. He uploaded a video on how to do the “Git Up” dance. It’s got nearly 10.6 million views so you may want to check it out. But the best part about this dance is that it can be improvised depending on who’s doing it.

Emily and RJ may not know it but a couple dancing with such great rhythm may be a telltale sign of how great they are together. They flow so easily, simply relying on each other’s smiles while having a great time. It was an awesome dance!
