According to Wikipedia, Walmart is the largest company in the world (based on revenue) and it continues to grow bigger every year.
That doesn’t mean that the marketing team has slowed down though, they are still actively promoting the company in order to get more business.
One of the ways Walmart has gotten their name out there and promoted the company is by showing the joy that many of the workers have.
In one particular instance, the floor team decided to join 2 of the most popular trends of online videos; a flash mob, and dancing the shuffle.
Only this time, it’s the “Walmart Shuffle.”
The video starts with a normal day at the store – employees stocking shelves and checking inventory.
The next thing you know, a familiar song comes on and things start to heat up.
As the crew starts to slowly come into the camera frame, a few employees walk by holding Walmart’s famous “Rollback” signs.
The song, “The Shuffle” by singer Cupid comes on and very slowly, the crew starts to move.
But this version’s a little different. Get ready for the “Walmart Shuffle!”
If you ever went to a high school dance, you surely know of the multiple “Shuffle” songs that are out there.
They are meant to get everyone up and moving; saying you can’t dance doesn’t work for these songs as the lyrics tell you the moves.
In the front of this group is dancer Ralphie Hollifield.
He is into the dance right away while some of the other employees look a little reluctant.
However, as the song goes on and they see how much fun Hollifield is having, everyone soon gets into it and the dancing picks up energy.
The whole troupe follows along with the dance’s instructions; going right, left, forwards, and back.
At the end of the song, Hollifield decides to freestyle a little and impresses the crowd with his moves.
He has been dancing since he was a teenager and broke out the fan-favorite robot before dropping down into a tricky breakdancing spin.
At the very end of the performance, Hollifield and the rest of the staff give a final pose for the camera, as well as the crowd who gathered to watch and cheer them on.
Cupid, the song’s artist, has said how blessed he feels that his song took off so much and that people are using it to entertain others.
He broke a Guinness World Record with his song as he got 17,000 people to all dance in unison.
Cupid also said that his greatest achievement with the song was having it be recognized by the White House.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama chose “The Shuffle” as one of the songs she would include in her ‘Let’s Move’ campaign.
This campaign is aimed at combating childhood obesity through dance and movement.
“I’m really proud,” the singer told NewsOne, “to know that the music I’m making has a purpose and that it means so much to so many people.”
