The first Golden Buzzer from a guest judge has happened on America’s Got Talent season 13!

If you’re not 100% familiar with how guest judges work on AGT, don’t worry. It is a pretty sweet gig!

During the Judges Cuts rounds, a new guest judge sits in each week with the regular four judges to give their input and insight.

Each guest judge is allotted a Golden Buzzer, but they can only use it once, just like the other judges and host Tyra Banks.

In the first Judges Cuts episode of the season, the guest judge was actor Ken Jeong, who became famous after The Hangover series.

In the Judges Cuts episodes, we get to see acts from previous episodes who auditioned for AGT and got at least 3 “yeses” from the judges to move on in the competition.

One of those acts was the Voices of Hope Children’s Choir. This choir is full of dozens of children between the ages of 5 to 17.

And boy do these kids have a lot of talent!

For their second performance on America’s Got Talent, the choir chose to perform one of the most popular Disney songs from the last two years.

Voices of Hope Children’s Choir sang “How Far I’ll Go” from the hit Disney movie Moana. It was a very fitting song to perform, given their circumstances and where they want to go on AGT.

If you’ve ever heard the original version of the song, you’d know just how amazing this cover truly is. Which is a huge compliment, as the Moana hit is a very popular song!

One of the young singers even sounded very much like the voice of Moana, Auli’i Cravalho. After they were done singing, the judges got a chance to tell the choir what they thought of the performance. Their standing ovation said quite a lot!

Mel B told them that the performance really made her emotional. She could tell just how much all of the singers wanted to make it on AGT.

Heidi Klum praised the children’s choir for the talent, but more important to her, was the kind things that the children do in their spare time instead of playing video games.

Simon Cowell told the choir that he felt they were the most improved from auditions to Judges Cuts out of all of the acts they’d seen.

And the guest judge of the night didn’t need to say much at all. All Ken said was, “from all of us, to all of you,” before he slammed his hand down on the Golden Buzzer!
