Though we’ve definitely all watched shows like American Idol and The Voice in our lifetime, many people don’t know just how international they are.
As it turns out, American Idol is part of a way bigger franchise that actually began in the United Kingdom (where it was originally called Pop Idol).
Beyond that, The Voice has so many different offshoots and varieties for different nations all around the world. For starters, there are versions of the show for different countries in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
But the hidden gem of the franchise is a version of the show in Germany called The Voice Kids.
As the name suggests, it’s the same show that the world is used to—just tailored for younger contestants.
Like any other version of the show, all the contestants do a “blind audition” for a panel of judges.
As the person performs, the judges can smash their buzzers to turn around if they like what they hear—and then compete to have that person join their team.
While each contestant can win the show on their own, the judges also compete among themselves to be the best team coach.
And some of the best parts of the show are the battle rounds!
Still, one battle on The Voice Kids was one of the best anybody had ever seen.
The performance came from the show’s 2014 season and featured two contestants named Jasmin and Richard.
As the round starts, it becomes clear right away that the song they’ll be performing is “All Of Me” by John Legend.
As the familiar piano melody begins, it’s Jasmin who gets the first chance to sing. From the very onset, her enunciation and vocal quality are so clear and perfect.
Still, Richard is up next to give it his all as well.
It’s immediately clear that Richard’s voice is just as crystal clear and pure as Jasmin’s is!
While his own solo performance is incredible, the song hits new heights when the two start harmonizing together—and their melody is absolutely amazing.
Before long, the judges are reduced completely to tears! Although the battle rounds are typically a way to shake things up so the singers have to switch teams or fight for other coaches, these two have a synergy that’s so perfect that it’s nearly impossible to choose!
After hitting the highs, they take the song back down to a quiet level to finish—and the crowd bursts into applause.
Still, their incredible performance didn’t end on the show itself.
The video of their battle round has garnered some 62 million views on YouTube… and it even caught the attention of the original singer.
After seeing these two perform his song so perfectly, even John Legend himself shared the video of the performance on his own Facebook!
Needless to say, shows like The Voice Kids show just how true it is that we can make an impact at any age.
As long as we identify our talents, work hard and pursue our dreams, there’s no telling how far our voices can reach.
