Chelsea Hegener is just your ordinary young girl, except for one thing – she’s extraordinarily talented.
In 2013, Chelsea decided to audition for the Voice Kids in the Netherlands, and we’re so glad she did because her epic performance has been etched in our minds for years to come.
Chelsea takes the stage in pigtails with bows at the end while her family stands nervously backstage. You can hear her dad cheer for her out of both excitement and anticipation.
The music comes on and immediately the judges recognize the famous tune, Adam Lambert’s “What do you want from me?”
Knowing that this song is particularly hard to sing because Adam Lambert hits notes that most people could only dream of, the judges stay with their backs turned as Chelsea sings the first few notes.
At first, the judges don’t seem to be blown away by Chelsea’s voice or performance, but you can tell they are eager to hear what she sounds like once she hits the chorus with all of those tough, hard-to-reach notes.
The young girl sings to the popular song in perfect rhythm and harmony, never missing a beat.
What’s even more impressive about Chelsea’s song choice and performance is that English isn’t her first language. Despite this fact, she’s singing and pronouncing each English word perfectly, just adding to her amazing talent!
Soon – the chorus chimes in and little Chelsea really starts to belt it out. This was the moment all of the judges were waiting for – and let’s just say that she most certainly delivered.
There’s a moment during the chorus that Chelsea’s voice takes on a little growl and that’s when one of the judges couldn’t help but turn around.
Once that first buzzer was hit, it was only a second later before another buzzer was pressed, then the other. You can see Chelsea’s face just light up with excitement as she continues to sing her song for the impressed judges.
All four of the judges sit and watch Chelsea continue her audition, not one of them without a smile on their face. It’s hard not to smile when seeing such an adorable girl with such amazing talent.
At one moment, one of the judges looks at his arm to check for goosebumps.
The young performer finishes her audition with a great big smile and a giant sense of accomplishment. All four of the judges couldn’t have been more impressed, and so was the rest of the world! Chelsea’s audition video has been viewed on YouTube over 8 million times!
