We can all appreciate a great musician!

Weddings are fun. It’s where we all gather together to celebrate the union between two people who, once strangers, cannot fathom life without the other. They’re beautiful celebrations and everything involved with that day should reflect the same.

While we all attend for the union, we stay for the food, drinks, and music. It’s only right to have these things present when a celebration is underway!

The music is just as much of a centerpiece to a wedding just as much as the cake is! Thus, there’s a ton of pressure when choosing to opt for a DJ, a live band, or a mix of both. Nobody wants to see their guests holding up a wall or sitting in their chairs on their big day.

One couple made the right choice for their music entertainment during their wedding reception. While most might envision a live band getting the party started, this violinist got the party started with nothing other than his violin.

Talk about working with what you got!

To be fair, he did have a DJ playing some cuts as a backing track but really, the floor belonged to the violinist.

The violinist’s name is Dominique Hammons and it is indeed one you won’t want to forget.

Hammons is a contemporary/jazz violinist from Houston who began playing the violin at age eight.

Although he has a Bachelor’s in Music Performance with Jazz emphasis from the University of Oklahoma, you can’t teach his passion, which oozes during every performance. Since then, he’s taught violin to the youth and performs regularly as a solo artist in Houston and surrounding cities.

Based on this video alone, it’s easy to see why he is in such high demand. He performs complex riffs and advanced technical finger patterns that only a skilled violinist can achieve. He’s also not afraid to let loose and match his audience’s energy while on stage.

In the video, he performs “Choppa Style” by Choppa featuring Master P. For all you youngsters out there, it was a big hit in the early 2000s (2002 to be exact). Since then, it has been revived at several parties and gatherings, including weddings.

The guests in the wedding clearly picked up on the tune as many of them begin to pour into the room where Hammons plays mercilessly to the song on his violin. The fast tempo at which he plays is incredible.

The room starts with just a few people in it, enjoying the rhythmic shrieks of his violin. Some guests have already started recording him on their phones. It isn’t long after when the other guests join them. Hammon is impressive on the strings! It’s hard not to marvel as his focus and fun spirit.

As more guests arrive, several of them dance their way into the room to the sounds of “aye’s” and handclaps. To say it looks like a good time would be an understatement. It looks like one of the most inviting and fun-loving crowds one could hope for at a wedding.

Even the bridesmaids enter the room, dancing to the beat. Stunning in their pink dresses and white bouquet of flowers, they aren’t afraid to bust out a dance move or two.

If the chants, handclapping, and stellar dance moves don’t get you going, Hammon and his violin most definitely will. Here’s to more weddings like this one and more performances by Hammon!
