In an interview with ice-dance.com, Gage said that they began skating in 2009 after their older sister started taking ice skating lessons.

Today, Gage is 18, and Oona is 16 years old, and their biggest career accomplishment is surely the junior bronze medal they won in 2020. These adorable siblings are home-schooled, and it’s interesting that they both started as single skaters but ended up choosing ice dance.

“The comfort level is the best thing about skating with your sibling,” says Oona.

Even so, being someone’s sibling “puts limits to what you feel comfortable portraying on the ice,” adds Gage. Both agree that their mother is their biggest inspiration, but they also look up to Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje, as well as Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir.

Though Oona and Gage are devoted to competing on the ice, they’re no strangers to several other interesting hobbies.

Oona plays drums and piano, as well as snare drum in two Irish marching bands. Looks like the girl finds time for everything, since she also enjoys gardening, knitting, running and reading!

Gage keeps up pretty well—he’s a soccer referee and plays bagpipes in some of the same bands as his sister.

Beyond all that, he also sings and plays bass in a band with his two older brothers. Whether it’s cooking, hiking, fishing, swimming, running or playing soccer—you name it, and the boy does it all.

The breathtaking choreography makes the siblings look like future Olympic gold medalists!

As this video proves, Oona and Gage belong on the ice. Everything about the video is phenomenal, and their effortlessness makes their performance ten times more enjoyable. We must also say that the camera work is impeccable—the cameraman somehow managed to catch all those special moments, and that’s what makes you want to watch the whole thing over and over again.

Dressed in all black, the two skaters stand still on the ice until Metallica’s famous song “Nothing Else Matters” starts playing. The song choice is an absolute surprise, and it goes incredibly well with the choreography. We’re certain that this is exactly what hard work and hours and hours of practice look like!

Their facial expressions show just how much they’re enjoying themselves.

Although not all of us get to spend so much quality time with our siblings, we love to see these two get to do it—they have our sincere encouragement and admiration. Keep up the good work you two, and good luck in the future!
