Once a person gets into the military, they lose all the things that separate him or her from one another and become classified into departments, serial numbers, and ranks.

But every once in a while, they come together to stand out.

But behind the formalities and the uniforms, the military will remain an organization of vibrant diversity made up of people from different walks of life.

You’ll have scientists, writers, athletes, and artists. To this end, the military has allowed their troops to practice their talents.

One such avenue is Pershing’s Own.

Pershing’s Own remains the United States Army’s premier musical organization. It pooled troops from different departments to build a roster of committed singers, musicians, and conductors.

The organization is named after General John J. Pershing after he proposed that the United States Army build its own musical wing just like other European armies at that time.

It was worth every effort.

The organization was first envisioned to pump up morale but later on, they were given more responsibilities like performances at national events, military funerals, and charity concerts.

Pershing’s Own performed in the virtual concert series United We Stand during the pandemic.

The band surprised audience members and viewers alike when they evoked the memory of one of the greatest singers of all time – Queen’s Freddie Mercury.

The talented singers started their number with Queen’s 1979 hit “Don’t Stop Me Now.”

Imagine watching the person you went to training with belting out the notes for Lady Godiva. That’s something you wouldn’t want to miss!

The band also came together to sing an enthralling version of another Queen hit. The ten-person choir blended their voices singing the lines, “Can anybody find me somebody to love?”

The band isn’t even singing with a tape!

The band’s musicians play the melodies and tunes. Talk about a collection of sheer talent at one stage!

And of course, no Queen tribute is complete without the UK band’s most iconic song – a song so popular that it became synonymous with their legend.

Queen’s flamboyant effects and costumes were more than enough to get the crowd’s attention.

However, even with just army fatigues, Pershing’s Own turned heads and demanded attention with their amazing rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody.

Not only that but the song was also accompanied by an incredible guitar solo and the vibrant blaring of the brass section.

People all over the internet loved the band’s medley.

“Thank you all our heroes for entertaining us! That was an A-class performance. So much talent in the military. I was blown away and I certainly enjoyed watching it.” Said one.

“As an Army veteran of over 20 years (retired in the early 90s), I always enjoyed the passion and quality of our fellow soldier entertainers.

Salute to this talented bunch as they continue the fine tradition!” said another.
