We’ve all seen James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke videos with some of our favorite celebrities. But “The Late Late Show’s” host also does song parodies. He recently joined up with Alanis Morisette to re-make her famous hit “Ironic” which was one of the most popular songs in the 90s.

“Ironic” was written by the Canadian-American and music producer Glen Ballard.

The song shot up to number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1996 and is Morisette’s highest-charting single. It went certified gold and won the Juno Award for Single of the Year and also earned two Grammy Award nominations.

MTV nominated the song for six of its Video Music Awards. It ended up winning three of those awards and was parodied by Weird Al Yankovic. Morisette changed the lyrics to her song in 2004 to support same-sex marriage at the 15th GLAAD Media Awards.

The song is about several “ironic situations” though some say the examples don’t exactly equal what is traditionally defined as irony. Jon Pareles of the New York Times called the song out for not using the word properly.

Leave it to a smart guy to ruin the fun! This didn’t bother Morisette though.

“For me the great debate on whether what I was saying in ‘Ironic’ was ironic wasn’t a traumatic debate. I’d always embraced the fact that every once in a while I’d be the malapropism queen. And when Glen and I were writing it, we definitely were not doggedly making sure that everything was technically ironic,” she said in an interview according to Wikipedia.

More than 20 years later, she figured she’d poke a little fun over the debate with Corden singing along with her.

“It’s singing ‘Ironic,’ but there are no ironies,” she sings. “And who would’ve thought it figures?”

She and Corden decided to focus on modern things that didn’t exist when the song came out in the 90s like Facebook, vaping, Netflix, and Waze.

They even busted out the red caps like the one she wore in the original.

Here are the hilarious lyrics to the new full song:

“An old friend sends you a Facebook request
You only find out they’re racist after you accept
There’s free office cake on the first day of your diet
It’s like they announce a new iPhone the day after you buy it
And isn’t it ironic, don’t you think?
It’s like swiping left on your future soulmate
It’s a Snapchat that you wish you had saved
It’s a funny tweet that nobody faves
And who would’ve thought it figures

It’s a traffic jam when you try to use Waze
A no-smoking sign when you brought your vape
It’s 10,000 male late-night hosts when all you want is just one woman, seriously!
It’s singing the duet of your dreams, and then Alanis Morissette shouting at you
And isn’t it ironic, don’t you think?
A little too ironic, and yeah I really do think

It’s like you’re first class on a Southwest plane
Then you realize that every seat is the same
It’s like Amazon but your package never came
And who would’ve thought it figures

It’s like Netflix but you own DVDs
It’s a free ride but your Uber’s down the street
It’s singing “Ironic,” but there are no ironies
And who would’ve thought it figures”

You have to see them duet in the video below.
