Brigham Young University (BYU) is hands-down home to one of the most entertaining a cappella groups on the planet.

Developed in 1991 after former students David Boyce and Bob Ahlander discovered the art of a cappella, the BYU Vocal Point group has been stealing hearts ever since. Here are the original members:

This isn’t the first time I’ve written about BYU Vocal Point. Earlier this month, in another article, I described how the group has earned numerous musical accolades, as well as one Hell of a YouTube subscriber list (currently boasting over 276,000 subscribers). Every single video released on the BYU Vocal Point channel garners hundreds of thousands of views, with some even creeping into the double-digit millions.

While doing research for that article, I found myself giggling at Vocal Point’s musical antics yet also impressed by their incredible skill; somewhere down the rabbit hole I stumbled across this video and knew that I had to share.

Last April, BYU Vocal Point took the internet by storm, sharing the following video with a caption reading: “This is what happens when 65 Vocal Point alumni get together for 25-year reunion”— and if you’re not prepared to be amazed, then I suggest you turn back now.

The video is named “Ultimate A Cappella Mashup: 25 Hits, 25 Years”, and with that title alone, you can already tell it’s going to be AWESOME. The music video begins with the fictional mayor of Provo welcoming fictional celebrity Ruby Rogers to their town. They reveal the school has won some sort of contest and the famous actress will be picking her new leading man straight from the community.

This announcement sets the theme for the rest of the video which features groups and lineups of men vying for the young celebrity’s affection with a repertoire of delightful a cappella songs.

Every few lines a singer is pushed from the scene and the song shifts; other men stroll through, adding lyrics from one song into the performance of another.

Throughout the performance, you see nerds, greasers, employees, campers, gym coaches, and coal workers all tripping over themselves in an effort to impress the beautiful blonde.

The style and design of the video are very retro, but new versions of popular, modern songs keep it all delightfully fun and fresh. At one point, they even include an ode to Titanic, and I’m not sure why but I was really excited about it.

The thing I like most about BYU Vocal Point is that they’re more than just singers; they’re performers who are not scared to show their personalities and have a little bit of fun.

How many songs can you count?
