One of the fun things about the internet is that you can find different challenges to participate in. For a long time, it was all about the Git Up Challenge. Now, it’s the Wii Challenge. In case you’ve never heard of that, you’ll never forget it after seeing a video of two guys that went viral.

Where did it originate?

The Wii dance challenge was inspired by the season 13 winner of So You Think You Can Dance. Kida the Great decided to take the theme of a nostalgic video game and turn into a dance. Today, the Wii Challenge is all the rage. It’s fun, exciting, and almost anyone can do it.

A viral video

Finding people who participate in the Wii dance challenge isn’t hard. But one video stands out. In it, you see Kida the Great himself along with a friend who show the world how it’s done…the right way. To date, this video has been viewed almost 1.5 million times.

The head nods

Standing in a kitchen, the video begins with the sounds associated with a video game. To each of those, these guys give quick and accurate head nods. All the while, they maintain serious faces, which makes this all the funnier.

Swaying to the music

Next, you hear violins as they go from one scale to another. The result is a swaying type sound. You guessed it, Kida the Great and his friend move their bodies to perfectly mimic it. They sway from side to side.

Right on beat

If you take a minute to listen to the background music of video games, you’ll notice they contain a lot of quick snippets. It’s not so much music but bytes of sound. Next, these two make several jerky yet precise movements accordingly.

Da, da, da

The game then features a sound like a “da, da, da.” With robotic movements, these guys raise their left arm in increments based on when each of those sounds play. Without question, this is genius.

Moving those hips

With their hands still raised, the sounds of the game become more intense. So, to match them, Kida the Great and his buddy move their hips back and forth. Again, everything is on cue.

Doing a shuffle

For the next part, you hear a series of different sounds. To keep up, the guys do a little shuffle while including more robotic type moves. It’s amazing how synchronized they are. We can see why the Wii challenge has become such a big deal.

The invisible ball

As the sounds continue, Kida the Great and his friend remain focused. At one point, they look up toward the ceiling as though they’re watching a ball drop. They follow the invisible ball down and then complete a super cool move.

Shake your groove thing

When there’s a succession of fast sounds, the guys do an awesome groove type of move, which includes shaking their fists. Although Kida the Great stays focused, his friend can’t help but laught. After all, this is a blast.

One of the best parts

This entire Wii challenge is hysterical. But one part in particular grabs your attention. With soft-playing orchestra music, the two begin to do what looks like a ballroom dance. This is beyond brilliant. But it goes to show just how talented and creative this young man is.
