A crowd of shoppers gets an impromptu performance they won’t soon forget.
Learning to play the piano is not easy and for some, it takes years to master the technique. So when you see a very young child seated in front of those familiar black and white keys, you don’t expect to hear a sound well beyond their years. While most of us were playing in dirt or sticking gum in our sister’s ear at the tender age of six, other kids are achieving absolutely remarkable feats of artistry. All we can do is marvel at their gift that inspires the world.
Two kids show off their skills.
When two six-year-old kids sit down to play piano at San Francisco’s Broadway Plaza in the Bay Area, people passing by couldn’t help but stop and listen. As one child effortlessly sweeps his fingers over the keys, the fast-growing audience is blown away by his level of talent.
This epic virtuoso goes viral.
One of the piano players is Paul Petrescu. Paul’s passion for piano started during the pandemic after his parents purchased a keyboard to use while stuck in lockdown. His YouTube channel, Paul Petrescu highlights his ‘piano adventures.’
A hauntingly, hypnotic melody that stirs the soul.
The memorizing piece chosen by the two talented kids is Comptine d’un autre été, l’après-midi by Yann Tiersen. This piece was made famous after being featured on the soundtrack of Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s film Amelie in 2001.
He has his parents to thank.
After Paul received his keyboard, his journey to becoming a young prodigy had begun. On his YouTube channel, Paul thanks his parents for steering him in the direction of music.
“I started the piano adventure in February 2020, after my dad bought me a keyboard. This keyboard was my playing toy while sheltering in place, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, the piano is part of my soul and I would like to thank my parents for helping me to discover my talent and also I would like to thank you all for watching my work ” – Paul Petrescu
Adults and kids are in awe of what they are hearing.
In the video uploaded to YouTube, you can see people genuinely moved by the young talent. Paul’s passion for the piano is undeniable. He is fully embracing the performance and anyone within reach is feeling the emotion in each note.
A magical duet.
While Paul plays the main piece, another child accompanies him throughout the performance. Paul’s duet partner hops on and off the bench when it’s their time to play. The two kids playing together is nothing but inspiring.

As the piece ends, the two brave and talented kids look out into the audience to sounds of happy cheers. The onlookers give the kids a big round of applause for their incredible display of artistry. We can’t wait to see what is in store for these kiddos in the coming years.
