Along with any relationship comes those inevitable patches of hard times. Whether it’s a little spat about doing the dishes, or someone forgot a birthday and you’re not on speaking terms for a week, every relationship is a bit of a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
For most people, it’s not fun to argue. Sure, there are some people out there that see it as something of a sport. But for the most part, it’s something to avoid at all costs. Either way, we can all relate to what it’s like to be in a little spat with a loved one!
At the end of the day, once you make up, it all seems so silly. Hindsight is 20/20, after all!
When violinist Aleksey Igudesman wanted to do something a little unorthodox for his solo show, he invited a fellow musician Rusanda Panfili on the stage with him to get a bit of a laugh from the crowd. What’s a show without a little comedy? Even classical concerts can stand to lighten up every now and again, right?
This violin duet shows what it’s like to be in an argument with a significant other or a spouse in a perfectly comical way. The two play the parts of a Turkish husband and wife in a bit of a spat.
Using the music to emphasize the emotions, they go back and forth with the rhythm and the melody.
Not only are they talented musicians, but they’re also pretty great actors! The expressions on their faces make this whole performance all that much better.
This must have taken quite some time to rehearse. Towards the end, there’s some choreography that requires some pretty intense coordination between the two, especially when simultaneously playing their instruments.
At the end of the “argument,” the couple finds a way to reconcile their differences, and the mood of the music goes back to a major key and a happier tone.
Have you ever seen anything quite like this before? It’s always fun to see professionals tapping into their more lighthearted side. This is just the type of thing we need to see in today’s day and age. We could all use something to put a smile on our faces, right?
The commenters on YouTube also had quite the sense of humor about this video. One says that,
“Too bad I don’t speak Turkish… I’d like to know what they were arguing about!”
Everyone’s a jokester!
Another says,
“I was waiting for the neighbor to intervene with a drum.”
A more sincere commenter noted that,
“Unbelievable^^ they are ‘speaking’ only with their violins and you don’t have to be English, Chinese or Italian to understand what they say! thank you music because you can link us!”
What a true statement! Everyone can understand the languages of music and human emotions. What a lovely performance that anyone on this weird planet we live on. What a way to bring folks of all different walks of life together!
