Being that Jazz was born in New Orleans, it’s no surprise to find high-caliber buskers in the city performing some classical Duke Ellington.

These incredible musicians go by “Skinny Tuba” and play “Jubilee Stomp” on the street corner, leaving the crowd stunned with the powerful performance. Even though Duke Ellington is one of the jazz greats, Skinny Tuba is more than up to the challenge of covering him.

Beware, this will make you want to jump out of your seat and dance!

Tuba Skinny is an extremely talented street band.

The group formed back in 2009 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Although they have plenty of sensational performances on YouTube, this jazz band went viral for an amazing street-show of “Jubilee Stomp” by the famous Duke Ellington.

Right from the jump, the talented band starts playing a spunky melody with upbeat instruments leading the way. There are so many sounds coming at you at once, it’s hard to fully fathom the complex music!

The band includes a cornet, clarinet, trombone, tuba, tenor banjo, guitar and frottoir, on top of the vocals.

Trading off solos, the clarinet player and trumpet player showcase their expertise before the trombone player comes in to show us what he’s got. They all sound great alone, but when they join in together it’s extraordinary!

All the musicians are masters of their craft, and Duke Ellington would be proud of these impressive buskers honoring his music with such precision.

When the camera angle switches to the other side, the rest of the musicians get a chance to play outstanding solos.

The tuba blasts out its deep sound while the guitar and banjo players play some sensational chords on top of it. Perhaps the best part comes when the frottoir player comes in with an epic solo on his old-school instrument that looks like an antique.

When the whole band comes in together, the sound they create is superior to any jazz I’ve ever heard. Playing in unison, Tuba Skinny proves why they’re a step ahead of any competition.

As the magnificent street performance came to an end, the crowd went absolutely crazy for Tuba Skinny!

You can hear from the crowd’s reaction that they loved the jaunty jazz band! Everything about Tuba Skinny is so authentic, from their instruments to their outfits.

“I have been listening and enjoying NOL jazz for over 65yrs and Shaye along with Tuba Skinny have to be up there as the very best performers. The wonderful thing is that the years and increasing fame have not changed or dulled their abilities. I missed them when they visited Europe but I hope to get to New Orleans soon to see them out there playing in the street.” Said one ‘Tuba Skinny’ fan.
