Today’s music is more exciting than ever before. Not only are there new genres but professional artists along with unknown singers are mixing different styles to give songs an entirely new sound. That’s what happened with a trio who sang “Feel It Still” did using old-school Mr. Postman style vocals.
A unique sound
If you listen to music from the 1960s to the current time, there’s a world of difference. During the earlier era, there was a sound that no one’s been able to fully replicate. It’s distinct and fun. But the song “Feel It Still” came pretty darn close.
“Feel It Still”
For those of you who don’t know, the song, “Feel It Still,” was a huge hit by an American rock band called Portugal, The Man. Written by Asa Taccone and John Hill, it reached top ratings in the US, Mexico, Russia, Australia, and six additional countries. But then in 2017, it peaked at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100 list.
A new flavor
If you’ve heard “Feel It Still” or if you want to, you can click on the video of the band’s original performance. You’ll see just how remarkable it is that three young women were able to take this hit and turn it into something so different and cool.
Not sure what to expect
At the start of the video, which has now been viewed more than 5.6 million times, you see three beautiful women all dressed in green. Behind them is a full band. Immediately, you get a 1961 vibe from when the song, “Mr. Postman” was released. Considering “Feel It Still” has that same style and sound, that’s important.
Perfect harmony
As soon as these ladies begin to sing, you’re blown away by the harmony. Their voices blend so beautifully. You also notice a sound similar to The Marvelettes. As for the song itself, it takes a minute to recognize it as “Feel It Still.”
They even look the part
From the clothes to the hairstyles, it’s as though this group stepped back in time. Even the men are wearing skinny ties, which were popular during the 1960s. They also mimic some of the body and hand gestures used by The Marvelettes.
But the voices
With everything else set aside, there’s no denying this trio has incredible talent. Their voices are perfect for this music genre. But they’re so good, you can bet they can sing just about any style.
Smooth as butter
This video is so fun to watch. As they belt out the lyrics of “Feel It Still,” they play the part of women who sang in the 60’s. This is brilliantly produced. Now we understand why so many people from around the world have watched it and commented.
Showcasing their skill
Here’s the cool part of this video. In addition to taking a new rock song and turning it into a 1960s classic, each woman in this trio had the opportunity to showcase her individual talent. So, you get to hear amazing harmony but also the voice of each member of the trio.
A rare opportunity
