If you’re a fan of reality competition shows, it doesn’t get much better than the Got Talent franchise.
For most of us, we probably know the franchise from America’s Got Talent and the many talented performers on that show. Still, what many people don’t know is that the franchise is actually international!
On each of the shows, the format is more or less the same: talented artists get up to perform in front of a panel of judges. Each time, the judges can give them an “X” to dismiss them or can advance them forward—and any talent goes!
While many of the performers are singers and dancers, sometimes they bring some unusual talents to the mix.
One interesting performance in particular came from the 2015 season of Asia’s Got Talent.
The audition began with three women walking out onstage to introduce themselves to the judges. They introduce themselves as Miss Tres, and they are both singers and comediennes.
After a spunky introduction, the three of them start their performance. Although everybody thinks they have a good idea of what the group is going to do, it quickly becomes clear that they have a few surprises up their sleeves.
That’s because after just a moment, they start to perform “Sex Bomb” by Tom Jones!
In general, we expect a group of women to have relatively high voices—but that’s not the case here.
As soon as the music starts and the performers turn around, the voice that comes out is so strangely close to Jones’ voice! Without a doubt, the trio is super talented—but it’s not like any act that the judges have ever seen before.
For those who know the original song by Jones, it’s a sassy and seductive song that has a bit of a sense of humor to it. For all those reasons, it’s a perfect song for the group to cover!
As they proceed through their performance, the crowd gets more and more on their side.
When it’s finally all over, the trio takes a bow and the crowd gives them a standing ovation!
As the judges stop laughing when it’s all over, they say what everybody in the room was thinking: “I did not see that coming.”
Regardless of the outfits and the overall presentation, nobody thought they would do a song like that. After that, one of the judges asks their names. Although he gets an answer, he asks again what their real names are.
After that, their voices drop down significantly—as it turns out, it was all a drag performance!
Although the group was so hilarious and awesome from the beginning, learning that fact pushes it over the edge.
When the judges take their final vote, the group Trio Miss gets the four yeses they need to continue! Although there have been some strange performances on the show over the years, this one is definitely one of our favorites.
While it’s one thing for a group to have an unusual singing voice, what Trio Miss pulled off goes way beyond that! As the old saying goes, you should never judge a book by its cover.
