The National Anthem has proven difficult for even the most seasoned performer. It takes a lot of guts to go out on that stage and belt out that powerful tune with thousands watching.
When 3-year-old, Drake Grillo, decided he would take a shot at it in front of a packed stadium, the audience couldn’t help but stand in awe of his bravery.
He’s got more courage than most.
As the toddler makes his way to the middle of the court, his mom crouches beside him for support. However, it doesn’t look like this little guy needs any coaxing.
He stands confident and ready for the challenge.
Look at that focus in his eyes.
The announcer introduces Drake.
“Let us rise as one nation and one people for our National Anthem, which will be sung by the youngest anthem singer in Carrier Dome history, Drake Grillo from Auburn.” – Syracuse Orange.
The music starts and Drake lifts the mic up to his mouth. Without a second thought, he starts singing his little heart out. The audience is all smiles and Drake is all business.
This is one proud mama.
While Drake belts out a nearly flawless rendition of our National Anthem, his mom sits right beside him. She understandably looks beyond proud of her little guy.
While most kids his age are taking a nap or watching cartoons, Drake is killing it in front of thousands.
So Much Cuteness.
Not only is Drake stealing hearts with his adorable singing voice, but he also has us wondering where life will take him. He is clearly a born performer who loves the spotlight.
With this much confidence at such a young age, there is no telling what is in store for him. He doesn’t shy away from this attention, he thrives from it.
The audience is hooked.
The packed stadium full of Syracuse women’s basketball team fans was silent as everyone watched Drake perform.
He did such a great job remembering the words and inspiring people to give it their all no matter what.
Drake goes viral.
After a video of the performance was uploaded to Syracuse University’s Athletic Department YouTube channel, Syracuse Orange, it quickly went viral with 3.8 million views.
Drake has been gaining some fans online. One person wrote,
“Okay, it just doesn’t get any cuter than that – and the fact that he knew the entire anthem, blows my mind!”
Another wrote,
“I’m very proud of him for singing and to his parents, “Thank you for teaching him that song!!” – USMC Veteran
“Land of the free, and the home of the brave.”
It’s one thing to sing about bravery but it’s another thing to actually embody that bravery. Drake is such a talented, adorable kid and we applaud him for stepping up to that mic and giving it all he’s got.
