We often see street performers in public spaces, such as plazas, sidewalks, and even in the streets.
It’s amazing how many talented people we can see on the streets.
Have you ever wondered how street performing started?
Street performing has been around for centuries!
There has been evidence of street performers in ancient Greece and Rome.
All show an array of talent and shows.
Street performing is also a way for aspiring artists to gain exposure and even build a fan base, and of course, a source of income.
Did you know that Ed Sheeran used to do street performances and small guesting in London?
If you stroll around, you would surely see amazing artists.
These artists are fantastic! One of them even got the attention of a toddler.
It happened just a few weeks ago, a toddler, and his family, were strolling when the little boy noticed a street performer.
He went to inspect the musician, and he loved the beat that the drums made.
The street performer was playing the djembe, a type of drum originating from West Africa.
This amazing instrument is often made from a single piece of wood, traditionally from the Lenke or Djalla tree.
They also use goatskin for the drumhead.
They often decorate djembes with intricate carvings and designs.
Each one can be symbolic of one’s culture and history of the region.
Hearing the djembe, you’d appreciate its catchy beat but will also intrigue you it produces unique sounds.
You can play this drum by striking the drumhead with your hands, using different techniques to produce distinct sounds and tones.
At first, the young boy tries to imitate the artist playing the drum and the toddler’s hands were on the beat.
Then his feet started moving to the beat as well.
We can then hear the woman taking the video giggle and then laugh.
While it wasn’t clear if she was with the kid, we commend her for capturing the special moment.
Even the people walking by were all smiling at the sight of the tiny boy who appreciates the music that was playing.
After a few seconds, the little boy couldn’t contain it.
He went straight to the person playing the drum.
The little boy started tapping the drum himself, and the performer stopped playing.
Shocked at the sudden halt of the music, the little boy stopped as well.
This is when we see the performer give the little boy a go signal to go and play the drum.
One tap, then two, then the little boy started playing the drum himself, and he has potential!
The street performer gave the toddler a round of applause and seeing this adorable moment, even the people passing by also clapped at the boy’s impromptu performance.
Little drummer boy also clapped and everyone was smiling.
Just then, the street performer continued to play the drum, and the boy remained standing watching him.
It’s so nice to see little kids appreciate art, and for them to also show talent in their chosen craft.
This adorable encounter will surely be memorable, not for the toddler and his family, but also for the street performer as well.
