And I bet almost everyone experiences that. It starts with an innocent head bop matched with a foot-tapping on the floor, as you let the music send you into overdrive. The rhythm of the song makes you sway your hips uncontrollably, and then your body glides to every melody that floats in the air. And before you know it – you are dancing. But what makes us do it?

When a person hears a pleasing beat, it evokes a desire within us to move. And if the listener is not making the music, then he finds another way to release it.

It is the way your body reacts to a stimulus that in this case is a song. It is called an auditory stimulus. And this desire to move to a rhythmic beat and wanting to get lost in the music is not limited only to humans, even our friends from the animal kingdom experiences the same.

A live band is performing “Stir It Up”, a song composed by Bob Marley in 1967. It was first recorded by his group The Wailers that year and issued as a single. The following year, Marley and the Wailers re-recorded the song for their album Catch a Fire.

“Stir It Up” was Marley’s first successful song outside Jamaica. To those who are unaware, Bob Marley is hailed as the Rastafari icon, as he infuses his music with a sense of spirituality.

She spreads her arms wide and swings it up and down to the beat of the music, all eyes on her.

This little bundle of joy shakes her body and swings her tiny hips like a pro while moving her right foot in a counter-clockwise movement to make a wide turn.

She almost lost her balance with that complicated dance trick yet she maintains her grace and posture like the queen that she is. However, her cute doe eyes catch a stranger sauntering towards her. The onlooker proceeds to challenge little Missy to a dance showdown.

Missy isn’t fazed at all, throughout her mini-performance, she is all smiles to the audience.
