The love between a father and a son is unlike any other. The bond that they share is something no one else will ever be able to quite understand.
When a father passes along his passions to his son, it’s one of the greatest gifts that he could give. It gives the two of them something to continue to bond over for the rest of their lives.
Tim Goodacre is a stay at home dad who also happens to have a passion for music. His talents are greater than even he knows!
At just 12 years old, Jack is far beyond his years in many ways. You can tell that he’s much more mature than most of his peers. The way he speaks with so much poise to his father and to the judges is something you’d expect from someone much, much older.
One of the sweetest parts of this audition happens before the song even starts.
When Simon asks what the original song is about, Tim starts to answer and surprisingly fumbles a bit. Who comes to the rescue but his own son with an incredibly wise and elegant response:
“It’s about how lucky we are to have what we have”
Clearly, this dad has raised his son very well and has given him wholesome values by which to live his life.
But, when the song starts, that’s when the real magic happens.
The melodies and harmonies are spot-on. Father and son’s voices blend together so incredibly well, making it irresistible to listen to.
However, the lyrics are the part that really push it over the edge into a surefire tear-jerker.
“Lay your head on me
As I fall to sleep
Put your arms around mine
Stay here by my sideWe’re the lucky ones
Only just begun
Others leave too young
We’re the lucky onesTil’ your eyes can’t see
I’ll be all you need
Put your hand in mine
Stay here by my sideWe’re the lucky ones
Only just begun
Others leave too young
We’re the lucky ones”
You can see why the judges are left in tears by the time these two are finished!
Simon is so touched by this father-son performance that he gives them the best compliment he can think of.
He slams that golden buzzer!
As he goes up onto the stage to congratulate them, he says that the song made him think about his relationship with his own son. It’s such a relatable song – one that turns you to mush.
After a song like this, you just want to go to your loved ones and tell them exactly how much they mean to you!
When they finally get to reunite with the rest of the family, Tim says something quite funny:
“We’ve gotta have more kids!”
That’s not such a bad idea, maybe then they could form a full family band and get everyone involved!
Would you listen to this duo if they recorded more of their original songs? It seems like everyone who’s in this audition room is aching to hear more from this adorable act.
