America’s favorite new dance show, World of Dance is back for season 2 and the competition is already so fierce.
This season of World of Dance is six episodes longer than season 1! The qualifiers rounds are still going on and this week, one of the best performances of the season took place.
It isn’t uncommon for dancers to get emotional during a performance. Many people pour their heart and souls into a dance. They almost literally leave it all out on the dance floor.
For The Rock Company, the emotions were extremely heightened during their World of Dance qualifier.
They are from Las Vegas, Nevada, and for their performance, they wanted to honor those who lost their lives in the shooting that occurred on October 1, 2017.
By auditioning for World of Dance, they wanted to “to send a positive message of resilience, happiness, strength, and love for their city and country as they recover from the recent tragedy.”
Wearing in all white, the dancers (ranging in ages between 10 and 16) performed to Emeli Sandé‘s cover of “Imagine.” When they finished the performance, quite a few girls in the group broke down in tears on stage. They were clearly overcome with emotions.
Judge and World of Dance producer Jennifer Lopez was quick to comfort the dancers. She rushed onto the stage – after giving them a standing ovation – to wrap them all up in a big hug.
After everything calmed down a little bit, the judges were able to tell the dance group what they thought of their performance, and they were not disappointed!
Judge Derek Hough praised their strength and foundation:
“The emotion was real, but your foundation of dancing was so strong it allowed the emotion to come through even stronger.”
The Rock Company got the second-best score of the season, with 96.7. That is only 2.3 points behind the top score (Karen y Ricardo got a 99.0 and it is the highest score so far this season).
World of Dance shared the performance on their Facebook page and it got over 1.6 million views in 48 hours, 6,700 likes, 5,000 shares, and hundreds of comments.

A beautiful tribute from a City that is still healing. Such amazing talent here. And those that are too concerned about what the judges are wearing….focus on the talented people on the stage. That’s what the show is all about!!!

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND HEARTFELT PERORMANCE I’ve ever seen on the show !!! hard to believe they’re only little children definitely BORN to be dancers!!!
