Terri Hafner Riley is 53 and out to prove to everyone that it is never too late to follow your dreams.

The Boston grandmother found fame and a whole lot of fans online. Terri has always wanted to become a professional singer. It’s a wonder she chose a different path in life because she’s incredible!

Terri joined the U.S. Army. Today, she’s a teaching assistant in Quincy, Massachusetts.

But honestly, where’s she been this whole time with those pipes!

“I’d stand at the top of the stairs and sing out loud,” Terri said. “It’s silly, but as a kid it’s something you dream about.”

Terri, like most of us, would sing just for fun. Except she sounds so much better than all of us. One day, a friend of hers introduced Terri to a Facebook group called Quarantine Karaoke.

The power of social media had people joining this group when gathering for in-person karaoke became unsafe. Terri, like everyone else, was bored during the restrictions so she joined the group.

She began posting videos of herself singing.

Terri quickly began gaining admirers with her voice. She’s got that whole Janis Joplin and Stevie nicks sound going on and everyone was loving it!

“I couldn’t even keep up with the comments,” she said. “Because I like to reply to every single one, at least like their comment, and I just couldn’t keep up. I just kept hearing plung, plung, plung.”

And soon enough, Quarantine Karaoke made her a featured singer. Terri became a star even getting interviewed for her insane talent. Had she chosen to become a singer back then, she just might have been in the rock and roll hall of fame!

It’s the sound of the seventies and the eighties in 2021.

Terri is still getting used to all the attention but her YouTube channel already has 36 very cool videos of her showing off that amazing voice.

The best part is that she and her husband, a guitarist himself, are now looking for members to join them so they can start a band. They’ll probably be on Spotify soon so watch out for that!

“I’m not a spring chicken anymore,” Terri said, “so at my age to be able to do this and actually people like my singing at my age to me is huge.”

Terri has 745 YouTube subscribers as of posting. She joined last April and by the looks of it, that number will continue to grow. This is no retiring grandma. There’s no stopping Terri’s growth!

It’s not just the heavy stuff either. Terri’s got covers of Carole King, Hall and Oates, and even a rendition of “Amazing Grace“.

She’s got a little bit of something for every taste out there. Who knows, perhaps in the future Terri will start taking requests just to show others how talented she really is.

Terri is 53 so if you have dreams, or feel like you’re too late to chase them, think again.
