Meet Ryan Boz and Alexis Garrish, two teenagers who are anything but ordinary.
While they do enjoy the usual teenage pastimes like hanging out with friends, they also have a unique passion that sets them apart.
This dynamic duo has been making waves in the dance world, collecting a multitude of awards for their exceptional talent.
Hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina, and Damascus, Maryland, respectively, Boz and Garrish are accomplished dancers with an impressive array of titles to their names.
They are adept at various dance styles, including hip-hop, jazz, and ballet.
However, it’s their extraordinary swing dancing routines that truly showcase their star potential.
Swing dancing, a collection of dance styles that originated between the 1920s and 1940s, is their chosen style.
The different styles of swing dancing evolved alongside the music trends of the era.
Among them, West Coast swing, Charleston, and the Lindy Hop have stood the test of time and continue to be popular.
Boz and Garrish have been dance partners for several years, but it was their performance at the US Open Swing Dance Championships that really put them on the map.
The US Open Swing Competition is the world’s oldest and one of the most prestigious events for swing dancers, attracting participants from 27 countries.
The pair competed and won first place in the young adult category.
Dressed in matching outfits adorned with sparkling accents, they captivated the audience with their intricate footwork and high-energy routine, which rightfully earned them the top prize.
But winning didn’t make them complacent.
Instead, they immediately began planning their next performance, determined to outdo themselves.
The following year, they returned to the competition, and their routine was so outstanding that it quickly went viral when it was shared on YouTube.
Dressed once again in black outfits with a touch of sparkle, they took the stage.
Their performance began with a pre-recorded message: “This is a tribute dance to those that came before us.”
As the music started, they launched into a smooth sequence of movements to the tune of “Fever” by Elvis Presley.
Their steps were perfectly synchronized.
The music transitioned to a contemporary version of Jackie Wilson’s “Baby Workout,” and as the songs changed, the teens showcased various styles of swing dancing.
Watching them was like taking a journey through time, their joy at displaying their skills evident in their radiant smiles.
The performance ended with the two rushing into each other’s arms, unaware that they had just secured first place once again.
Their breathtaking routine has since been viewed nearly 500,000 times, with viewers unable to get enough of their performance.
Comments praising the dancers flooded in, with sentiments like, “The closer you are together, the brighter you shine. May God keep you safe and well protected,” and “You both are more than amazing. I love watching you guys.”
