Unfortunately, a lot of teenagers don’t get the credit they deserve. Especially for those pursuing a passion. They put in a lot of hard work and long hours to hone their craft. Take dance performers as a perfect example. As teens begin to dance more competitively, they give every practice and performance 100 percent.
On rare occasions, you’ll see teenagers dancing on stage with the same level of skill as professionals. One viral video is proof of that. At a national dance competition, a young boy and girl had the opportunity to show not only the audience but also viewers around the world what they were capable of doing…and it was riveting.
They performed to the Backstreet Boys “As Long As You Love Me”
The teenage duo, Alex Arce and Eva Igo, start by taking their place on the stage. The audience quickly becomes quiet as though they know they’re about to see something they’ve never witnessed before. And as the two dancers begin, it’s obvious the crowd was right.
These dancers begin their routine with a unique pose.
You see Eva standing upright facing away from Alex. He then slides down, with his knees bent and his back up against his partner. Next, he wraps his arms around her from behind. That alone is beautiful but there’s so much more to come.
All of their moves are fluid.
On cue with the start of the music, Eva rolls back while Alex stands out. The result is her lying parallel to the floor while he carries her on his hunched back. It might be a simple move but they performed it flawlessly. As part of this lyrical piece are plenty of aerobatic type moves, making their performance both exciting and unique.
Just when you think they’ve done their best pose they do something even more spectacular.
Watching the two of them dance together, you can’t believe their just teenagers. They put some of the top dance pros to shame. As the video continues, their moves become increasingly more sophisticated. They tumble, jump, twirl, and spin in perfect harmony to the music and each other.
Alex and Eva are born stars.
To viewers, what Alex and Eva do looks so easy. But they’re actually skilled athletes. For being a teen, this boy has incredible strength. And for her, she trusts that he’ll be there her through all the difficult moves…and he is.
They inspire other dancers.
A lot of younger kids who’ve only been dancing a short time or those interested in learning to dance, they can get inspiration from watching Alex and Eva perform. Reaching this level of skill has taken years but it’s all been worth it. They enjoy dancing together and we all love watching them.
But what makes these dancers so extraordinary is their ability to tell a story using beautiful dance moves. Throughout the performance, every word of the song becomes more real. They know when to do a subtle move and when to go over the top. It all comes together in one of the most stunning teen performances ever.
