Mack West and Trinity Davis are teenagers with incredible talent in shag dancing. Unusual as that may sound to most, their passion proves that deviating from the norm is simply awesome. Most teenagers take up instruments, sports, film, name it. But these two find delight in learning fancy footwork, donning spiffy ensembles, and putting on a show for everyone.

The Shag originated in the 1940s on the beaches of South Carolina and became an instant hit with the younger crowd. Leisure and fun under the sun would put the young ones in such a happy mood that they’d just get up, dance, and twirl to beach music.

It demonstrated just how laid back their lifestyles were.

Just picture yourself basking in the sun, toes in the sand, surrounded by good friends. Definitely a reason to get on your feet and dance!

Despite the countless dance styles and music genres that have surfaced over time, people still love and appreciate the Shag. It looks pretty simple: shuffling forwards and backwards, hips swaying, shifting one’s weight from left to right.

Known as the swing dance of the South, the Shag’s steps follow a basic counting pattern of one and two, three and four, five, six. Yes, it looks easy but not everyone has the moves.

It definitely takes grace and confidence to do it flawlessly in front of an audience!

Their chosen track was from John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, called “NYC Song“.

Dancing seems to be second nature for these two.

They mirrored each other’s steps without missing a beat, occasionally grinning at the admiring spectators.

They swayed and twirled in perfect synchronicity, embodying the social graces and tradition the South was known for. These two definitely won’t be branded as wallflowers at parties. In fact, they’ll probably be the first ones in the middle, moving to the music, inspiring others to let loose, have fun, and cut a rug.

Looking every bit the perfect gentleman, Mack was nothing short of impressive as he showed off his moves.

Their charisma and dancing made the elderly members of the audience smile.

What a way to walk down memory lane. Who knows? Maybe the performance of the young pair moved them to once more experience the bliss that dancing brings.

Mack and Trinity weren’t simply showing off a choreographed and rehearsed dance.

They were having a great time out on the floor: light on their feet, with infectious smiles on their faces.

It takes a lot of time, effort, and discipline to learn a dance, master it, and share it with the rest of the world.
