Teen brings the entire auditorium silent when he begins playing “Interstellar” at talent show
This is beyond incredible.

A good film needs a good soundtrack, and some of the best composers know how to elevate a film with music alone. John Williams, Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer, you name it.

Can you imagine watching Jurassic Park, Star Wars, or The Lord of the Rings without the iconic theme songs in them? I doubt it.

Interstellar, for example, received universal praise for its incredible story – but the soundtrack helped the movie a lot too.

The main theme of Interstellar is what gets the emotions flowing. It was composed by none other than Hans Zimmer.

Composed and performed on piano, the theme did a lot of heavy lifting for the film’s tone and theme. Simply playing the song in front of an audience gets them invested and reminds them what an amazing film Interstellar is.

This is Caleb Karren, a student at this high school where the talent show is in full swing.

Caleb already has some fans in the front row, shouting for him before they even know what he’s bringing. Hey, the hype from the front row can go a long way.

See, Caleb knows how to play the piano. And Interstellar is pretty well-loved in this school.

So naturally, that’s what he’s going to play for them. Maybe he’s hoping to get more points from the crowd for playing something they’re a fan of. You can never go wrong with a bit of fanservice, right?

Caleb might have had the right idea. But there’s actual skill at play here – those cheers aren’t just for the recognition of the song. Caleb absolutely can play the piano pretty well.

There’s traditionally an air of awkwardness and stage fright at school talent shows.

This is usually where kids will perform in front of a crowd for the first time. As far as performance goes, they’ve not learned how to walk yet.

But this school, at least from watching this video, seems a lot more welcoming and warm to any performing students. That’s nice to see.

We want to encourage talent, after all.

Caleb plays the song with the somberness and beauty that people love about it.

So much so that the crowd is dead silent while he’s playing. They heard Caleb’s sheer skill and talent when his fingers touched the keys, and realized it’s best they keep silent and let him do his thing.

And Caleb for sure rewarded them for that. He stayed laser-focused, but did seem a bit nervous at times.

Some comments note that he made a small mistake, but that he otherwise did it flawlessly.

And look no further than the deafening applause he got from the crowd afterwards. It’s all clapping and screaming from friends, classmates, and teachers.

Caleb was right to join this talent show, and even more right to have someone film it.

This kind of talent should be shared with the world. Plus, he’ll have something to look back on and show off whenever he gets the chance.
