It’s amazing to see the talented people on shows like “The Voice,” but it’s even more amazing when they’re barely more than kids!
Of course, that’s what “The Voice Kids” is all about: finding incredibly talented kids and teens to give them their chance to shine.
And some of these kids are incredibly talented!
Just take Océane, the teenager who blew the judges away with her powerful performance of Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin.
Dressed in a T-shirt and jeans, Océane looks every inch a teenager. She still has braces on her teeth and sneakers on her feet. In short, she looks like most other girls you would see at school — but her voice proves that she’s got something special.
Most people would never dream of trying to sing Aretha Franklin, but Océane had no problem getting up on the stage and giving it her all.
She was so good that two of the judges hit their buttons within the first 20 seconds of her performance. The third followed not long after, and the fourth, although he took his time to consider, soon hit his button, too.
“Océane, 15, is full of energy,” reads the description from The Voice Kids France. “She began to sing on her internet channel, where she posts covers of her favorite singers: Rihanna, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande.”
Even though Océane likes her modern pop singers, she also enjoys the classics.
Aretha Franklin was a powerhouse of music in the 1960s and 70s, known for her strong and versatile voice. And for that reason, she’s not often covered.
It’s an ambitious move and one that Océane pulled off flawlessly. As the judges watched her perform, they couldn’t help but be excited. One even started to sing along. Others watched in mute amazement as Océane delivered the performance of a lifetime.
The judges might’ve been overwhelmed, but that’s nothing compared to the reaction of the internet.
“Wow here is the winner of the voice kids 2019,” said one commenter. “She sings along with the depths of her soul, she is so graceful and so pretty…congratulations my darling, I support you…”
Océane has a powerful voice that does Franklin proud, but that’s not the only thing that makes her performance so remarkable.
She also has vocal control that’s well beyond normal ability! She takes all the runs of the famous song and performs them easily. No wonder the judges were so excited.
“She is just outstanding OMGAAAAADDDDD!!!” said one commenter. “Unfortunately, I would like her to be with Patrick Fiori. But the important thing is that she is on this magnificent adventure. I think she will win.”
This season of “The Voice Kids” is still underway, so there’s no telling how far Océane will go or what she will accomplish.
But one thing is certain — she’s got a long future and many accomplishments ahead of her. And we all get the pleasure of watching!
